White Sox 7 - Tigers 1: The beatings continue, morale has not improved.
The Tigers offense sleepwalked through this one and the pitching staff eventually crumbled.
BYBTB

Free-falling Detroit Tigers lose their eighth consecutive series.
The Tigers have lost 20 of 24 games and are 15 games under .500 for the first time since August 2023. And, worse yet, there still are 103 more games to go.
Another day, another dud. Copy, paste.
The Tigers have lost their eighth consecutive series, sealed by a 7-1 sleepwalking setback on the South Side to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday afternoon at Rate Field.
The Tigers now have lost 20 of their last 24 games. They're 15 games under .500 (22-37) for the first time since August 2023. They're 6-21 in May. They're 8-23 on the road. And maybe the worst stat of all — there are 103 more games of whatever this is. Have mercy.

The offense has been putrid.
Nothing changed in the 7-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, May 30, in the second of three games in the series at Rate Field. The White Sox scored four runs off left-hander Framber Valdez, with two apiece in the first and seventh innings.

Tigers’ slide reaches 2019 levels in another loss to White Sox.
The Detroit Tigers are playing like it’s 2019 — and that’s not a good thing.
The Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox 7-1 on Saturday afternoon at Rate Field, ensuring their eighth consecutive series loss, a streak not seen since 2019.
The Tigers (22-37) have dropped 20 of their last 24 games, ensuring this May will go down as the club’s worst month since 2019, when they lost 114 games and approached MLB records for futility.

Just lookin at the dugout, everyones so calm, noone is upset.

Verlander seems to be having the time of his life.

AJ always has that 'I is so smart' smirk on his face.

I guess the joke is on us, when they turn it around. But i dont see any indication of that happening.

Go look at the MLB graphic, or go look at the video, now that it is up. They were both barely strikes, between 96 and 97 mph. Did they have any movement, or was he just unlucky? I will leave that for others to decide. The game was lost in the first inning, since we don't have a functional offense. Perhaps you should switch to the MLB app; the ESPN one makes the baseball look like a basketball in relative proportion to the size of the strike zone. That said, the graphic there shows both of those home run pitches touching the edge of the strike zone.
Either we are tipping pitches or we are just bad. I Watch replay and both of those balls where crushed. The offense has been bad since last August but we have a brain dead GM who is clueless.

Tigers minor leagues.
Toledo (26-30)
Lost 4 in a row. Beat 3-1. Only had 3 hits.
Gibson-Long had a decent outing 8/0 k/bb in five with
Runs . Malgeri hit his 7th Mudhens only run

Btw carpenter had only 1 at bat. He walked and then was
Pulled for a runner . Not a good sign.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers signed reliever Kenley Jansen last December to a $9 mill contract and club option at $12 mill ($2 mill buyout) for 2027. Although he liked the Angels, who wanted him back, he chose Detroit because he was offered a more traditional closer role.
Jansen is chasing 500 career saves and ranks all-time behind Mariono Rivera and Trevor Hoffman. He’s got 483 so far.
Last year was a terrific year for him, going 5-4 with 29 saves and a 2.59 ERA. His WHIP was .949. These stats would have made him the best reliever by far in the Tigers’ 2025 bullpen.
Before hitting the IL last week, in 18 games (15 IP), Jansen has 1 win and 3 losses. His ERA is 4.80 and has a WHIP of 1.200. His ERA is the largest out of all the Tigers’ regular relievers.
This is Kenley’s 2nd time being injured. The first time did not require an IL stint however both injuries are in the same region.
Jansen is currently 38 years old but will be turning 39 this season. After Justin Verlander, he is the second oldest player on the team.
Given Kenley’s stats coming into Detroit, combined with personal factors and the Tigers’ need for a closer, was this a good move?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Ready?

Was signing Kenley Jansen a good move?

1. Yes, the Tigers needed to sign a true closer.

2. No, it's too risky to sign someone at that age.
