How is throwing your sliding mitt towards the catcher not some sort of rule? Hunch should have at least went and questioned it.

Just awful at bats by two stiffs.
Verling and Perez.
Embarrassing at bats.
Perez is batting .169..

Via Tigers Notes: Kevin McGonigle and Bobby Witt Jr are the only two shortstops in the AL with a bWAR greater than 2.

For the 67th time in franchise history, the Tigers have scored 7+ runs in at least 4 games in a row.

Tigers medical update: Jackson Jobe threw a bullpen session Friday.

Some hitters have strong plate discipline but lack impact. Some combine both. So far in '26, 3 hitters rank in the 80th percentile or higher in chase %, whiff %, K% + BB% (plate discipline), and also xwOBA (impact):
Ryan Jeffers
Cody Bellinger
Kevin McGonigle. McGonigle is 21.

The Tigers offense in May (28 games):* 18 home runs.* Three games of 10 or more hits.
The Tigers offense in June (four games):* 12 home runs.* Four games of 10 or more hits.

Torkelson is 23/120 .191 since April 28.

To dig further into the difference for Gleyber Torres as far as Baseball Savant goes, his last 10 at-bats or so before the injury to since he came back as far as hard hit and exit velocity goes.

Riley Greene has been one of the AL's best hitters over his last 50 games played, which dates back to April 11. During that stretch, he leads the league in batting average (.348) and ranks 10th in OPS (.954).

Who do pitchers throw the most FB to on the Detroit Tigers?
ZMAC 51.7
Vierling 51.6
Dingler 49.8
Torres 49.4
lowest Spencer Torkelson 42.7% not strange, Torkelson is 16/95 against anything offspeed or spin.

I think that Perez and Vierling have shit themselves with all the playing time they have been given.

Jones needs to be DFA.
Short needs to be DFA.
Perez needs to hit at Toledo for the next 2: years.
Short has been a bit better the last few games; a .308 average over the last 7 games, with three base on balls in 16 plate appearances. On a decently formed team, he could be a suitable defensive replacement. The Tigers aren’t decently formed, though.

2 hits and 0 for 6 with RISP.
They couldn't touch the mariners' starter. He looked good on paper and proved it today.

Boxscore.

Mariners pitching smothers Tigers bats to even the series.
Mariners pitching was too sharp for the Tigers in this one.
BYBTB

F'n ****sucker Josh Naylor reignites Tigers' hatred with Kevin McGonigle, Dillon Dingler incidents.
Once a Guardian, always a Guardian.
MCBTB

New villain: Tigers hit Josh Naylor with fastball after dirty plays.
The Detroit Tigers have beef with Seattle Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor.
So much so that the Tigers retaliated.
Right-hander Keider Montero threw at Naylor in the fifth inning Saturday, June 6, in the second of three games at Comerica Park, hitting him on the right shoulder with a first-pitch 96 mph fastball. It appeared intentional.
Of course it was. Tigers players have to show some big brass balls and stick up for each other.
Freep

Tigers' hot start to June doused by shutout loss to Mariners.
Josh Naylor continues to pester the Tigers.
He did it when he wore a Cleveland Guardians uniform and he’s done it the last two seasons with the Seattle Mariners.
His tactics aren’t necessarily illegal — like sending fake signals to his hitter when he’s on second base — nor are they especially kosher.
He was front and center Saturday, helping the Mariners even the series and snap the Tigers’ four-game winning streak, 4-0, at Comerica Park.
Detnews

Tigers held to 2 hits by Mariners as shutout ends 4-game win streak.
The winning wasn't going to last forever.
The Detroit Tigers lost, 4-0, to the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, June 6, in the second of three games at Comerica Park, snapping a streak of four wins in a row.
Right-hander Keider Montero completed five innings, but he surrendered all four runs to the Mariners, including two runs on Randy Arozarena's double into the right-field corner with two outs in the third inning.

Tigers’ hot start to June halted by shutout loss to Mariners.
Mlive

Jahmai Jones is 11/77 hard to understand why they don't have another option besides him. He was very good last year..but in every other opportunity in his history, frankly he has sucked.
36/129 .285 (2025)
36/204 .176 for 4 other teams (rest of career).

Tigers minor leagues.
Toledo (29-32)
Lost game one of the doubleheader 7-5 final.
Lee hit his 3rd homer as some of tiger prospects keep hitting at this level but not at the mlb level. One pitcher gave up 6 earned runs.

Box Game #1

Game #2
Toledo won 8-1 Final.
Workman (6) Lee (3) Gentry (6) , and Nido (3) hit homers
Workman and Lee each with 2 hits.
Five pitchers 11/2 K/bb ratio including Edward’s with 7.

He also had 2 RBIs, and stole his 6th base.

Team isnt hitting

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

Now that the Detroit Tigers have gotten a few roster members back from the IL, they have started to play better. However, they remain one of MLB’s worst teams, 10 games out of 1st place (through mid-day Saturday).
They’ve got just under 2 months before the trade deadline. Potentially some time to right the ship. But what will determine whether they are buyers or sellers? Specifically, should they trade Tarik Skubal before he becomes a free agent?
What will be the determining factor for you when you make your decision?
Will you base it on the win-loss total, the number of games out of 1st place or the odds of earning a wild card berth?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!
For this one blog only, you’ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, you can also respond to other readers.
TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Ready?

How will you decide if the Tigers should keep or trade Tarik Skubal?

1. By the win-loss record and games out of first.

2. Their chances for a wild card berth.

3. I think they should trade Skubal no matter what.
