The game is on TV for me. On MLB network. I don’t get that many Tiger games on television.

This opener for Montero crap is just dumb. Thr opener has given up first inning runs every time. Meanwhile Montero has started the last 2 without given up a single run.

Pitching Chaos is back: Tyler Holton will start Saturday's game as an opener, followed by Keider Montero.

Colt Keith has an 11-game hitting streak. He's hitting .301 since the start of May.

Tarik Skubal in his last 60 starts:
2.39 ERA
439 K
58 BB
Only Jacob deGrom and Clayton Kershaw have matched those numbers over a 60-start span in MLB history.
Tarik Skubal has gone 6-0 with a 1.61 ERA (13 ER in 72.2 IP) and 95 strikeouts / 3 walks across his last 11 starts in the last 125 seasons.
Tarik Skubal now at 3.4 fWAR and 83.1 IP...2.19 ERA 1.85 FIP 2.21xFIP

Hinch on the pursuit of Jahmai Jones “We chased him hard for the very beginning of Minor League Free Agency. Our front office did a good job of identifying him, but also selling him on how we could manage maximize, his skill set”.

Cris Rodriguez blasts his first professional home run. It’s a 2-run shot to center that left his bat at 105 MPH.

Matt Vierling on his shoulder:“Everything looks good structurally…just got a little inflamed…Absolutely best case scenario…I’ll start throwing probably tomorrow.”
I want to get back and help the team and be a part of this because it's just incredible right now. The vibes are amazing.”

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

The trade deadline is coming up next month and teams are making their own plans for whether to be buyers or sellers. It is widely expected that the Tigers will be buyers.
Potentially, they could be in need of more starting pitching as well as relievers. And then there’s the concern over 3B which is the team’s weakest spot and ranks near the bottom of MLB.

Another possibility is adding a shortstop. Javier Baez is cooling off somewhat and Trey Sweeney is starting to struggle.

One sportswriter is floating a strategy that the Blue Jays may part with their SS Bo Bichette.
Bichette is 27 years old and making $17.5 mill this year. Unfortunately, he would be only a 2-month rental – becoming a free agent at the end of the season. It is believed that the Jays don’t have the money to extend him after spending substantially on other players.
Toronto would be looking for multiple prospects from the Tigers.
It is believed that Bo would do well at Comerica. He had a poor year in 2024 but is doing better in 2025 with a slash line of .279/.324/.443/.767 (through Friday night). He has 17 doubles, 8 HRs and 35 RBIs so far.

Sweeney has 3 options left so he could be sent down, leaving both Bichette and Baez to cover SS.
Should the Tigers add this 2+ month rental or should they try for another SS option?

Or should they focus on adding another pitcher, reliever or positional player instead?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

Who should the Tigers add to their roster at the trade deadline?

1. SS Bo Bichette.

2. Another SS.

3. A pitcher, reliever or other positional player.

I think it's still too early to speculate what they need. So many things could happen between now and the deadline. That said, I think trading for Bichette would be stupid
