AL Central Update

AL Central Update June 12th, 2025

—————-W-L-GB
Tigers……… 46-25……………..(Won 2 in a row) (Blasted Reds at Home 11-5).
Twins………...36-33 (-9)…….(Lost 2 in a row) (Blasted in Houston 10-3).
Cleveland…35-33 (-9.5)….(Lost 1 in a row) (Blasted in Seattle 7-2).
Royals……..…34-36 (-11.5)..(Lost 4 in a row)(Blasted in KC, by Oakland 6-3).
White Sox…23-47(-22.5) (Lost 3 in a row) (Close in Texas by 3-1 score).

Always good when the division all loses but the good guys in
Detroit !
In 1909 the Tigers were 46-25 after game #72 (Tigers were 98-54-6) in this season. Strange to see Ties back in the day. That team was only 2.5 games up in first. This was the 3 rd pennant in a row for the tigers.
As you all know the Tigers lost all three World Series in 1907,08,09.
In 1909 they did take Pittsburgh to 7 games. Still lost.

In 1984 the tigers were 53-19 after #72 games and 10 games up.
Tigers did win the 1984 World Series. Sadly our last one.

In 2013 and 2014 they had same record 40-32 after game #72.
I think one we were 2.5 up and the other 3 up. Could not make the World Series sadly.

In 2006 after game #71 the tigers were 47-24 only 2 games up.
Remember we faded down the stretch and finished 1 game
Behind the twins for the wild card. Damn cards. That should been our World Series.

Im not sure what to do at the trade deadline. I guess I will trust what Harris does. Hell Cobb may not work out by Tommy K and Torres have been fabulous signings. They talked about what we need at the trade deadline on 97.1 fm out of Detroit today .

It’s some order on right handed bat. A few arms for the pen.
And maybe a starting pitcher. Everyone had a different order on the show. I think I’m
1. bullpen help
2. Right handed bat.
3. Starting pitcher.

I can be talked into any order. Hell the tigers are loaded in the minors
Leagues. So many good young players.

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

Earlier in the week, Detroit Tigers’ PoBO Scott Harris indicated that the team would be active at the trade deadline. It will be the first time the Tigers would be buyers in 11 years.
All teams are currently assessing where they may be at the end of July as well as their potential needs. As we all know, rosters are very fluid with drops in performance as well as injuries that determine additional changes and additions.
The Tigers’ needs have changed since the beginning of the year.
But what is their biggest need as they hope to compete in October?

What is the Tigers' biggest need at the trade deadline?

1. Starting pitching

2. Relief pitching

3. Infield

4. Outfield

It's difficult to say. I think they probably need a starter to get them through the regular season. I don't see any top end starter that is out there that could help them in the playoffs (without costing an arm and a leg). BP arms are always a good thing. They could use a 3B, but I don't know if any would be a significant improvement from what Vierling gives you.

I was thinking of pitching, a starter and a back end guy in the bullpen, we soon find out.
