Game #76: Pittsburgh Pirates @ Detroit Tigers, Thursday June 19th, 6:10 pm.

Holy Toledo!

Suddenly, a thunderstorm delays the game in the bottom of the ninth?

I am following the game on ESPN whatever they call it when you just follow the play-by-play streaming on Text

Sure wish Rogers would end this with a big fly.
He k’s. Just way too late.

Sweeney swings at first pitch and grounds out.

That’s a great throw. Rogers missed the tag.

Hurter had him 0-2. Such poor pitching by him.
We just have too many relief pitchers who cannot get the strikeout in critical situations. We need more k’s in the pen.

Team just isn’t good in extra innings. About to fall to 2-5 in extra innings if we don’t come back.

Freaking Hurter stinks tonight sadly. Missed out call at home killed any chances.

Team should not be losing in extra innings to crap teams like Pittsburgh at home.

Bad loss at home. (2-5) in extra innings now. I thought getting game to extra innings would tip favor Detroit’s way.

Next 11 series.

Record)(Updated records)
(2-1) vs Cubs (45-29)
(2-1) @ O’s (31-42)
(1-2) Reds (39-36)
(2-1)vs Pirates (30-46)
3 @ TB (41-33)
3 vs Oakland (30-46)
3 vs twins (37-37)
3 @ wash (31-44)
3 @ Cleve (37-36)
3 vs TB (41-33)
3 vs M’s (37-36)

Hurter had that 1st batter 0-2 and could not put him away.

What are we in games Holton has started ? It probably isn’t great.

Minor League update June 19th, 2025
Toledo (37-35) lost 8-2 at St Paul. Vierling DH and was 0-5 with 2 k’s
Malloy had 2 hits. Bo Brieske was lit up badly. Yikes.
3 walks, 5 earned runs. Zero K’s. 4 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
Four pitchers 10 k’s and 1 bb. Starter gave up all the runs.

Sorry I missed Olson had a great start 3.2 innings pitched and
5 k’s 0 walks and 3 hits. Then Bo came in.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

On this holiday weekend, let’s take a step back and review some of the polls fans completed about the team during the mid-April to mid-May period.
Since it is Friday, I’ve selected the 5 most interesting polls from that time period.
As you peruse each poll, keep in mind the timeline – from exactly 2 months ago and running through the middle of last month.
How many of them still ring true? How many didn’t we see coming? How many of them are wildly off?
How many of them did you get correct? How many of them would you like to reconsider answering?

This is the highest HR hit by a Tigers hitter since 2015. It was 3.72 inches higher than Steven Moya's HR on 6/19/16.It was 11.16 inches above the strikezone for Colt, which was also the most. It was 3.12 inches higher than Victor Martinez's HR on 8/15/17.

I'm sure that rain-mandated day-evening-night doubleheader between the Tigers and Pirates, with another ninth-inning delay, some really bad fan antics, and a disputed 10th-inning play at the plate and loss, followed by a 3 a.m. check-in at Tampa has the Tigers in a marvelous mood.

If Reese Olson finger feels good today and tomorrow expect him to start next Friday.

Keider Montero..continues to be ridicuoulously effectve and useful since 4/26

Tyler Holton surrendered seven homers all of last season. He's now given up eight homers already in 2025.

Here's every time Dingler has thrown out a runner this year with stats on each one.

I don’t give two rips. That player was out at home.
