Game #77: Detroit Tigers @ Tampa Bay Rays, Friday June 20th, 2025

What a bad loss. Makes last nights extra inning loss feel worse.

Im worried way more about our bullpen than I am about Flaherty. He's always up and down. He had 3 great starts before the 2 horrible last starts. I don't trust a single arm in the pen.

Both are a huge concern to me.

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

Detroit Tigers’ 2B'ers Gleyber Torres is having a terrific year so far. He has one of the team’s best slash lines – .273/.375/.414/.789 (through the last series) and leads all 2B'ers in a number of categories. He is still defensively challenged but has shown great improvement this year.
Torres is described as a clubhouse leader and credited with advising good friend Javy Baez on his hitting. He is also labeled as a table setter for the Tigers given his patient approach and low strike out rate.
The Tigers signed Torres to a 1-year contract. He is hoping to parlay his work this year into a new multi-year contract. Gleyber is 28 years old.
He also happens to be leading all AL 2Bers in All-Star voting.

If Torres leaves after this year, there is no clear-cut player to take his place in Toledo. Kevin McGonigle is a top-ranked prospect but he is still at least 1 year away from Detroit. Historically, he’s been playing more SS than 2B.
Should the Tigers extend Torres? He is currently making $15 mill this year and a contract extension would likely mean a yearly salary of $20 mill and a contract length of at least 5 years. Reports have him looking for a $100 mill contract after this season.
Should the Tigers extend Torres?

Should the Tigers extend Gleyber Torres?

Yes on Torres ! Use some of the 2nd basemen in the tigers minor system except maybe kevin or Max and trade for bullpen help or starting pitching help. We also need a bat. Heck idk

Why do we keep using shitty relievers as openers. Just start your ****ing starters. I hate when aj tries being the smartest guy in the room. Gives me quinn/Patricia vibes. You have a really good team. Get out of the way
