Toledo Mudhens (46-42) (7-6) second half . Have won 4 games in a row. Winning a slugfest 12-8 at Omaha (35-52) Hens banged out 18 hits. Ibanez, Jung, Lee . New Ss Cruz had 2 hits. Bunch of homers

The Detroit Tigers will be buyers for the first time in a decade at the trade deadline. It is also noted that 25 teams out of 30 are technically still in the mix for a playoff spot. That many is likely to increase demand and the asking price.
It has already been reported that Scott Harris has been making inquiries. Specifically, still for a third baseman. But they also need relievers, maybe another starting pitcher and a RHB.
For them to acquire better players, the Tigers will need to give up an equal amount. Either in the number of players traded or the player/prospect ranking.
Keep in mind that any trade is likely to include a catch – a long-term or expensive contract they inherit or potentially a player who could become a free agent after this year and would be known as a “2-month rental.”
