The Tigers are 24 games over .500 for the first time since 2013!
The Tigers' numbers really are incredible. They hit three more HRs and beat Tampa Bay 5-1. They're now 58-34, best in baseball, and 24-6 in the first game of a series. They don't wade into anything. They dive right in.

Colt Keith is the 4th youngest player in Detroit Tigers history to hit 2 doubles and a HR in the same game:
Al Kaline - 4X by 22 years, 200 days
Sam Crawford - 23 years, 110 days
Nick Castellanos - 23 years, 168 days
Colt Keith - 23 years, 327 days
Victor Reyes - 23, 332 days

Per the transactions report, the Tigers have released Manuel Margot from Toledo, and signed left-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer. Smeltzer last pitched in the big leagues for the Marlins in 2023. Was pitching in the Mexican League this year.

Zack McKinstry deserves to be an All-Star.
The veteran utility man has had a breakout 2025 and deserves recognition for it.

Scott Harris joined the broadcast last night, sharing thoughts on:- What is the Tigers team identity?- Journey of key players like McKinstry, Baez, Dingler, and Torkelson arriving to their breakout seasons.- Mindfulness surrounding promoting young players through the system.

Hey Jack
Next time try not to throw a 1-2 count fastball down the middle.
Just another homer allowed. No big deal.
Use the damn count to your advantage maybe !

Keith chases a 0-2 waste pitch.
Smart pitching.
Torres out early.
Greene k's on a 0-2 waste pitch inside way off the plate.

That pitch to keith was in the zone and the one to Greene was just a damn good pitch. They arent "waste pitches" with pitch counts being lower now a days, pitchers arent wasting pitches. Good pitchers throw in the zone as much as possible.

Pitch to Keith was very high. He can handle it 10% of the time. It was a waste pitch. Jacks 1-2 pitch was right down the middle. Guess batter was ready for it. Greens pitch was 6 in inches off the plate inside.
You either take that pitch or swing and miss. Pitcher never was throwing a strike on that pitch.

2-0 rays with a base open righty coming up. Doesn’t Kim has a shoulder issue ?

Tigers 3rd
McKinstry popout 3rd.
Vierling HBP (SB)
Baez popout 2b
Keith BB (tough take)
Torres 1st pitch 2b unassisted

(Tigers still without a hit).
Poor Jack. He never gets run support.

Tork. Kaboom #21 366 Feet to LF (2-1 now )
Perez F-8
Dingler 6-3

Since Perez hot start he is now batting .256. Need to get his bat going again. .

Tork !
Lineout DP 2 outs for TB . That ball was smoked.
K ends the inning.

Tigers 5th
McKinstry BB (sb)
Vierling HBP
Baez K’s
Keith single RBI 2-2
Torres singles to RF
Greene F-9

Vierling caught in tween 2nd and 3rd by cut of guy.
They had no shot to get McKinstry any home I really do not get why Vierling would be that far off second with the play in front of him ?
