Lefties have a lower batting average vs. Wheeler than Righties do, but have hit 6 home runs (righties have hit 4). I guess we should hope for a bit of power to come into play.

Another tough matchup today.

Day 1 "Under the Hood" MLB Draft.
From our website, Ashley wrote up the first day of the 2026 MLB Draft
Day one of the draft is complete, and the Tigers have made their first four picks at #22, 61, 69, and 125. Let’s take a deep dive into each of their selections and the tools that they feature.
TMLR

BREAKING: “Tarik Skubal has informed friends that he badly wants to stay in Detroit the rest of the season, believing they have a legitimate shot at the World Series, and has zero appetite to be traded. "I’ve never lost faith," Skubal says”.
"Well, fire your agent and sign an extension".

Kevin McGonigle (99 hits) and Riley Greene (98) are the first Tigers teammates to each reach 98+ hits before the All-Star Break in 10 years. We last accomplished this in 2016, when three players hit the mark: Ian Kinsler (103), Nick Castellanos (99), and Miguel Cabrera (98).

Spencer Torkelson is one of the most frustrating players in baseball with runners on base.
For his career, Spencer Torkelson, has been at bat 45 times with the basis loaded. His batting average is .081 which is the lowest and all of MLB history. I sure hope AJ remembers that analytics the next time Spencer is facing a right hander with the bases loaded.

The Tigers today placed LHP Framber Valdez on the bereavement list.

The Tigers pitching staff has held opponents to a .682 OPS with one game to go before the All-Star Break. As of now, it ranks as the 4th-lowest first-half OPS allowed by the Tigers in any season since 1974.

Torkelson sure has reinforced that frustration in the last two days, with three gidp's.

1 freaking hit. Same old crap. Cant manufacture runs without the long ball. Skubal cant get the bottom of the order out..
in a real Jam now.
Turner K’s. 2 outs.
Schwarber K’s.
TS gets out of the Jam !
Bottom 5th trail 1-0.

Especially yesterday when we really needed a damn fly ball with bases loaded no outs :/. Just not sure what his damn Approach was for that at bat. He is normally more patient.

Yes, Tarik Skubal wins, but the Tigers won't, unless they can break out of their bad habits at the plate.

My impression is that he is more or less a guesser at the plate. He just struck out on a pitch that could easily have hit him.

Why is Vierling even playing against this righty ?
Max Clark should be playing over Vierling.

Skubal gets no run support. Five freaking innings TS is at 93 pitches.

Scott > get on the phone and trade him.

I’m pretty sure our offense can lose just as many games with Skubal as they can without him

My lord Montero has a double play ball and it hits him :/

The tigers certainly lack luck this year. He lets that go it’s a double play ball.

Ex-Tiger killer coming up..
Thats the Hill I remember!
K’s looking at a fast ball right down the middle !

Sadly he can’t get the next batter (.204 hitter out)
That should do it. Clears the bases.
(Falling behind 2-0 killed him) to the #8 hitter.
Bottom of the order is killing the tigers.
Kevin double clutches and it’s 5-0. (Or did he just take his time) ?
Wish we had guys with Speed .
Oh wait they are in the minors .

AJ is abusing Montero.. Dude he is a damn starter
Trade Skubal and put him back in the rotation.
Rough relief outing.

Well, this game is skittering away, unless Keider can pull a Skubal and strike out the side now.

I don't really understand the broadcaster's insistence that Keider had to throw the sinker to get a ground ball, when there were already two outs.

We have a .153 #9 hitter and we are worried he will be picked up if we Dfa him ? His homers are so infrequent.
