INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team received an at-large berth to the 2025 NCAA Division I Championship and will face Xavier in the first round on Friday (Dec. 5) at 4 p.m. inside the Petersen Events Center on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.

The Wolverines (21-10, 11-9 Big Ten) will make their 21st NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and will kick off action in Pittsburgh, Pa., against Xavier (26-4), which fell to Creighton in the Big East Championship.

Friday's other first-round match features No. 4 overall seed Pittsburgh against America East champions UMBC. The winner of the Michigan/Xavier match will face the winner of the Pittsburgh/UMBC match in the second round on Saturday (Dec. 6).

U-M's showdown with Xavier is the fifth in program history and the first since the 2015 season. The Wolverines are 5-0 all-time against the Musketeers, with the most recent meeting coming at a neutral site. Xavier and Michigan share two common opponents this season -- Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan. The Musketeers went 1-1 against them, while the Wolverines went 2-0.

Michigan ended the regular season by winning nine of its last 12 matches, a stretch that included a victory over ranked Penn State. The NCAA appearance marks Michigan's first under head coach Erin Virtue.

The Big Ten Conference received nine bids to the NCAA Tournament. No. 4 seed Minnesota and No. 3 seed Purdue join Michigan in the Pittsburgh regional, while No. 1 overall seed Nebraska is on the Wolverines' side of the bracket.
