Batting .368/.436/.559 while playing ss. Tigers might have the best left infield (at least hitting wise) in the mlb. What a turn around from the days of inge/renteria/everette.

Everette was one of the worst MLB hitters I have seen. Peralta back to his 2011 year. Infante has been playing great too, if only Martinez could catch fire a bit...hes hurting.

everett and kelly are about offensive equals, and everett was better at SS than kelly could ever hope to be at any of his positions. we ditched the former because he couldnt hit, yet we keep the latter and start him 33% of the time.

this team makes no sense.

Renteria 2008 = .270 BAVG .317 .OBP .382 SLG .699 OPS

2008 AL AVG SS = .694 OPS

Not sure why you included Renteria.

Inge and Everette on the other hand...

We've been talking about Johnny and I'm sure he's fine with it....but no one is noticing what he's doing because Miggy is sucking up all the attention and headlines....and rightfully so.

I included renteria because peraltas defense is vastly superior to renterias

There is no vastly superior. Renteria played 1 season for the Tigers as an AVERAGE SS.

Renteria 2008-2010 = 0.6 UZR/150

Peralta 2008-2010 = 0.9 UZR/150

People were expecting him to play better than that.

Opening Day SS:

2002 = S. Halter

2003 = O. Infante

2004 = C. Guillen

2005 = C. Guillen

2006 = C. Guillen

2007 = C. Guillen

2008 = E. Renteria

2009 = A. Everett

2010 = A. Everett

2011-2013 = Peralta

Average smaverage. .694 OPS sucks, as does .699.

2013 3B-Cabrera, Santiago SS-Peralta, Santiago

2008 3B-Guillen, Inge, Hessman, Larish, Raburn, Holliman, Santiago SS-Renteria, Santiago, Holliman

Is this even a close competition?

To go even further

2008 team totals by position-Det

SS-.719 OPS/.690 AL average
3B-.774 OPS/.767 AL average

2013 team totals by position-Det

SS-.859 OPS(leads AL)/.673 AL average
3B-1.143 OPS(Leads the world)/.767 AL average

Edgar renteria's 2008 WAR: 1.2 in 140 games
Jhonny Peralta's 2013 WAR: 1.8 in 43 games.

Like I said, vastly superior.

Looks like all of that extra training and workouts that Jhonny performed during the past off-season has paid off in his improved agility and better hitting ala '11. Perhaps his ex-tribe team-mate and "Mr. Clubhouse Congeniality" VMart's return to active status after missing all of last year has also had a positive effect on Peralta.

At any rate I sure hope that he can keep it going @ a high level throughout the season, of course.

As a baseball player, 2013 jhonny peralta is better than 2008 edgar renteria. I wish it could be this simple with baseball people sometimes.

Nobody is disagreeing with that.

You made an entirely different statement which Rebbiv refuted.

You then countered his refute by entirely changing your argument.

I wish you could stick to one argument rather than use points to bring up an entirely different one.
