Pretty brutal.

Sure they're 6-6, but they have made bowl games the past two years. That hasn't happened since 1988 for them. He looked to have made the right hire at d-coordinator as well. D improved quite a bit this year.

Also, this is the first year they have won four Big 10 games since 2001.

Something must be up. A major hire or Wilson did something wrong because he was doing a great job in Indiana

Some tweets are indicating that Wilson was careless in monitoring the condition of his players.

hmmm, sounds like there may be more to it but if they're firing him for performance it could be the dumbest firing since Minnesota canned Glen Mason.

The quick hire of the DC as perm HC tells me it's off Field and the players like the DC, program wants consistency/continuity.

Read it was about forcing players to play through injuries when they shouldn't be playing.

Residual impact of Bobby Knights mistreatment of student athletes at IU ...no tolerance for that now ?

Looks to me like they were trying to find a way to get rid of him because of his many brushes with admin. They already hired a new coach. Good luck, dumb ****s!!

IU is just trying to get out of the millions they will be paying him for the next 6 years. He signed an extension last year at $2.55 mill a year. Somethin' fishy goin' on.

I couldn't help myself.

I get it's impossible to win at Indiana. But for the life of me, I don't understand why everyone though Kevin Wilson was doing such a wonderful job. The team has been basically the same as they've always been. His winning percentage was even less than the two guys before him (Lynch, Hoeppener).

Other than finally having a decent defense this season, they've been the same damn team they've always been for the past decade.

Except they have now made back to back bowls for the first time since '88 (Mallory). The won four Big 10 games for the first time since 2001. He had it headed in the right direction.

Yeah I suppose, it could just be a case of it being next to impossible to win there, no matter who the head coach. But I do remember pretty damn clearly he was on the verge of being fired after they had a step back (believe it was year 4).

I think you're right. It's really tough. All the best players in Indiana want to go to ND, Michigan, OSU, etc. None of them want to go to IU or Purdue. Pretty much fighting a losing battle.
