Who needs to blitz :)

What hasn't gotten enough attention, I don't think, is that the Lions' defense largely shut down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense when playing in its base, non-blitzing alignment. According to ESPN Stats & Information, the Lions sent four or fewer pass rushers on 33 of the Bucs' 44 passing plays. Bucs quarterbacks completed 24 of those passes, but for a modest total of 204 yards.

On those plays, the Bucs had a Total Quarterback Rating (QBR) of 27.1, the ninth-lowest in the NFL for Week 1.

Largely due to our new LINEBACKING group.

It could also be said that we didnt get a whole lot of pressure on Freeman. The sack/pressure numbers werent exactly there but as you stated....we did what we needed to and got the job done. Really the only thing TB did all day was the drive at the end of the first half and the drive at then end of the game.

Short passes didn't become long passes. Pretty much what I was getting at.

You could definitely see how much better the new LBs made the defense. We had a lot of three and outs and stopped a lot of other plays for normal gains that could have been big plays in the past.
