Michigan football projected to go 8-4?

Anything worse than 10-2 is a big disappointment in my opinion. I could see us dropping one of Penn State or Wisconsin I suppose. Upsets do happen. Indiana has given us fits the last few years also for whatever reason.

7-5 is very pessimistic. The defense alone will keep us in games even if we can't find a QB, which I think we will anyway. Harbaugh turned Rudock into a fantastic player by the end of the year, and he didn't have spring practice with him if I recall correctly.

Call it hype if you want, but Harbaugh has been producing off that hype. We have a boatload of talent returning, many of whom could have left for the NFL. Need to take another step forward now and start beating the rivals and other big games.

I'm extremely worried about LB. I know that people want to be optimistic about the position, but there's very little experience there. We all saw how the defense was when good backs got passed the LOS in the last two years. Bolden and Morgan got beat like a ****ing drum. Now we return nothing special and are hoping a safety can play the position as a hybrid. This could be a huge weakness, but I guess we haven't seen what the unproven guys can do, yet. We'll see.

That said, unless our QB sucks balls on the field, our offense is going to be awesome. Maybe the best we've had in about a decade or more. The DL and secondary are beastly, so if the LBs play well enough to give solid tackling and decent coverage, we'll be better than last year.

There's a worry about the three road games with MSU, Iowa, and OSU. I feel like we don't have much of a chance of winning all 3, but I hope I'm wrong.

I'm going with a 10-2 regular season with losses to OSU and Iowa. MSU might be a bit down this year, so I predict that Harbaugh and the boys are going to be laser focused that week and roll over and through EL.

I will definitely be upset too. We are returning far too much proven talent on both sides of the ball. MSU will not be as good as last year with all the pieces they are losing. And yes we should have beat them last year anyway lol, but oh well.

I agree with Monster that I see the two losses being @Iowa and @OSU. JT Barrett just seems to kill us, although no Ezekiel Elliott this time around either.

Definitely the clear weakness of the D but it helps that the d-line is (possibly) as loaded add we've ever seen it. Really hope they stay healthy and the depth doesn't fall off.

The Long View is better than the short one. This season could be rougher than last. I only look for progress and improvement in the program as a whole and that is obviously occurring.

Don Brown?s defenses finished #2 in 2011 (UConn), #3 in 2012 (UConn), #2 in 2014 (Boston College) and #1 in 2015 (Boston College) in run defense. I trust this guy to get the right LBs on the field to stop the run. Plus, he actually knows how to stop a power spread run game. Something we have never had before.

it's a tough schedule, but at least we open with 3 easy home games, before what looks to be a mild first test (also at home against penn state). and penn state should be a good final tune up for our first real test (home v-UW).

true at that point we still have away games at MSU, Iowa, and OSU, but at least we get a road tune-up at Rutgers first.

It's tough to look at that schedule and realistically see a Big Ten East Championship, but four losses seems equally unlikely.

I'm cautiously optimistic though that we improve more than OSU or MSU, and certainly more than everyone else in the conference. and at least Ohio St has a pretty tough schedule as well, going @UW, @PennSt and @MSU.

You don't think Deveon Smith is the man? I'd be shocked if he doesn't get 15+ carries in any non-blowout. I love the way he runs, and he seems to be getting better and better under Harbaugh.
