MSU Football recruiting

Crazy note, Aidan Chiles(Northwestern), Katin Houser(Illinois) and Noah Kim(EMU) will all be playing in spartan stadium as opponents this year.

If Sam Leavitt somehow ends up at Nebraska, Oregon or Washington that would make 4 former Spartan qbs as home opponents.

Spartans pick up a kicker in the portal. Liam Boyd from Charlotte. East Lansing will be his 4th stop after previously handling kickoff duties and UNC and Clemson prior to Charlotte.

Last year Boyd was 9 for 12 with his longest made FG being 42 yards. Connington isn’t great but this Boyd guy doesn’t sound like an upgrade.
we got a better one

Saw the McCray news yesterday but didn't have time to post it then forgot about it - thanks.

Leavitt is supposedly taking a visit to Tennessee after checking Instagram while in the stands for an LSU basketball game during his recruiting visit and finding out Kiffin and co had signed Demond Williams from Washington. Awkward.

Apparently Washington is threatening to sue Williams because he signed a $5mm contract with the Huskies the day before he announced he was leaving for LSU.

Looks like Kiffin and LSU may have shot themselves in the foot - and early reporting on the Demond Williams situation was not entirely accurate.

LSU was interested in Williams and Williams was interested in LSU but apparently, once Williams found out he couldn't actually enter the portal after signing a contract stating he wouldn't enter the portal, he decided to stick with UW after being told they have no intention of letting him out of the contract he signed.

So now Leavitt, who left MSU due in part to his grudge w/ Jonathan Smith is probably not too keen on Kiffin and LSU after finding out they were looking to sign Williams while he was attending a LSU women's basketball game - with Kiffin.

Anyway, he had a visit with Tennessee yesterday and is going to Miami this week. Every QB on LSU's roster is either out of eligibility or has entered the portal. If the LSU bridge is burned for Leavitt, this could leave Kiffin short on options in a year he needs both a starting and backup QB.

Stanton Ramil (former Spartan OL) commits to Auburn and Mikhai Frazier taking a visit to Ohio State today. Frazier is also getting interest from Florida and Auburn.

Fitzgerald and co recently hosted Coastal Carolina "elite" edge rusher. Ezekiel Durham Campbell visited MSU Wednesday & Thursday this week. If he commits, he'll get a shot at sacking the Chanticleers former backup QB when Noah Kim and Eastern Michigan visit Spartan Stadium this fall. Although it appears Campbell was at La Tech when Kim was a Chanticleer, making that story line even less interesting than it already was.

Serial transfer portal entrant, Charles Brantley is apparently transferring back to MSU after not cracking the regular playing rotation at Miami. Seems like an odd time to transfer - does this mean he won't get a ring if Miami pulls off a miracle in the NC?

Anyway, you may recall this kid entered the portal several times only to withdraw his name to stay at MSU until the first year of the second J Smith era after which he wisely jumped ship. Let's see how this works out for him and for MSU.

Edit: apparently you can be in the portal and still play for your current team - some kid from Oregon who is in the portal played last night.

Congratulations Andrew Depaepe and the rest of the Indiana Hoosiers on making the CFP final.

I can’t find it but I think I posted on here 2 years ago about what a dumb move that seemed to be. If I didn’t post it, I certainly thought it.
