Ted Williams was absolutely furious as the manager for that trade. He was not asked or given any knowledge of it until after it took place.
He did not want to trade the left side defense on that team for McLain.
Rodriguez and Brinkman were terrific defensive anchors at 3B and SS for a few years for our Tigers.
