Only eight times in their history have the Tiger had multiple 20 game winners. Keeping my fingers crossed..

1905 79-74 3rd place.
Mullin 21-21
Killian 23-14
-------------------------------
1907 92-58 1st place lost WS damn it.
Mullian 20-20
Killian 25-13
Wild Bill Donovan 25-4
----------------------------------------------
1909 98-54 1st place lost WS.
Mullian 20-20
Ed Willit 21-10
( Ed summers was 19-9 this year)
---------------------------------------------
1915 team was 100-54 good for second place damn it.
Harry Coveleski 22-12
Hooks Dauss 24-13
---------------------------------------
1934 101-53 lost in WS again damn it..
Bridges 22-11
Rowe 24-8
---------------------------
1944 88-66 2nd place 1 game back damn it.
Trout 27-14.
Newhouser 29-9.
------------------------------
1956 82-72 good for 5th place
Lary 21-14
Hofet 21-13
----------------------------------
1971 91-71 in second place and way back to the O's
Lolich 25-14.
Coleman 20-9.

So you're saying we get multiple 20 game winners and don't win a WS?

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but it's damn near impossible to have two 20 game winners in a 5 man rotation.

I hope not... But it is just another interesting baseball stat..

Lots of time and effort putting the 20 game winners lists together Bob, thanks.

I think Verlander has a 90% or better shot at getting 20 wins again in 2012.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Fister, Scherzer, and Porcello all with 15 wins or more. Of course it's all, more or less, on how the Tigers score runs, but each of these guys is poised to do as well and in all likelihood better than last year. That's my thoughts and I'm sticking to it ;)

I hope so

They would have won the pennant in 1944 if Greenberg had not been in the army

Trout and Newhouser both might have also won an unprecedented and unbreakable 30(+) games each as well in '44, since Hal was only one win away from 30, and Dizzy just three..wow!!

Had not thought about that, but yeah. That would have been amazing. Greenberg would have been good for at least 4 more wins! lol

Hopefull we can add Fister and Porcello to that list

Porcello is not a 20 win pitcher.....not right now at least.
He doesn't have the stuff.

Bill Gullickson did not have the stuff in 1991 and he went 20-9

Morris should have finished higher in the CY in 1986. I thought at the time he was #2 behind Clemens' ridiculous season.
