Tigers 2025-2026 Offseason: Trades, Free Agents, Call ups, Rule 5, tender, non-tender, Skubal Cy Young Award

The battle for the final spots in the Tigers’ bullpen begins.
The Tigers bullpen appears mostly set, but competition for the final spots will be a focus over the final weeks of camp.

Tarik Skubal's departure points to Riley Greene extension, but it's complicated.
The Tigers might want to wait a few months before taking this risk.

THERE’S NO “i” IN TEAM.
Totally Tigers

The Tigers purchased the contract of left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus, adding him to the 40-man roster (and keeping a team in Asia from signing him).
To make room, Troy Melton (elbow) has been placed on the 60-day injured list, which means he won't be available until late May. De Jesus has three minor-league options remaining. He will compete for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen, but he can be sent down to Triple-A Toledo.

From last night's livestream, the crew discussing the spring training numbers among the minor league numbers including Kevin McGonigle's official numbers and how well Max Anderson and Jung looked defensively. (Aka the stats slides are back!) 4 minutes.

Tigers are the worst team in Spring Training at using ABS Challenge:
tied for 2nd worst in the fewest overturned calls (7, Dodgers 5, Twins 30.)
last in fewest runs gained (0.6, Cards leading at 5.9 runs).
last in runs per overturn (0.09, A's leading at 0.27).

After tremendous experience with Team USA, Skubal's next start will come with Tigers.

Tarik Skubal’s WBC drama has Tigers winning long-term PR battle.
Just stop talking, man.

Tigers ace Skubal to stick with plan, not pitch again in WBC.

Two former Tigers pitchers, minor leaguer RJ Petit and Joey Wentz go down with season-ending injuries.
Mlive

Petit, 26, was the No. 1 overall selection in the Rule 5 Draft, which allows teams to poach unprotected players from other rosters.
The 6-foot-8 reliever was selected by the Tigers in the 14th round of the 2021 draft out of Charleston Southern.
He drew attention after an outstanding 2025 campaign: In 66 1/3 innings between Triple-A Toledo and Double-A Erie, Petit went 10-2 with a 2.44 ERA, striking out 79 and walking 22.
