Tigers 2025-2026 Offseason: Trades, Free Agents, Call ups, Rule 5, tender, non-tender, Skubal Cy Young Award

Tigers' Meadows running out of time.
Less than 2 weeks remain in spring training and OF Parker Meadows is an enigma.

THE CASE FOR KEVIN.
Totally Tigers

Verlander throwing all five pitches. Velocity looks good. Getting plenty of whiffs too.
4 K, H, 0 BB, 0 R through three frames.
35% Whiff%. 2 Ks on the slider, which has a 50% Whiff%. I still can't believe he's doing this at 43.
BYBTB and TMLR

Kevin McGonigle, playing 3B today, went out of my camera range to make a diving backhand stop in foul territory on a Coby Mayo grounder, but you can see the throw across the infield from seemingly out of nowhere to complete the out.

Jason Beck

Dan Dickerson on the broadcast with an interesting stat. The Tigers last season had
8 players with a OPS Plus of over 100 (380-400 plate appearances) and that has happened only 22 times in 100 years of baseball.

Final line for Tigers starter Justin Verlander: 4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K. 76 pitches,
51 strikes. Generated 12 whiffs/42 swings (28.6% whiff rate): 7 fastballs, 1 curveball,
2 sliders, 2 changeups. Fastball averaged 93.9 mph, maxed at 96.2 mph. He looked really good.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.

Last week, we identified the 4 players who were struggling at the plate the most in spring training. And now with one week until Opening Day, it’s time to talk about the players who are having the best offensive ST.
As with last week’s group, the players selected have the largest number of plate appearances.
I will add that since last week, 4-5 more games made a difference in who made the list last week and who dropped in their ranking for this week.
Jace Jung made the top 5 last week and falls off this week. Riley Greene only made the list this week.
Kevin McGonigle’s BA went down a little but his slugging zoomed up. He ranks #2 after Corey Julks.
Julks and John Peck continue to “twin” with their stats – and lead the rest of the players.
And Matt Vierling’s stats only continue to climb higher.
Here are each player’s slash lines:
Riley Greene – .290/.353/.548/.901
Kevin McGonigle – .267/.463/.600/1.063
Matt Vierling – .343/.378/.686/1.064
John Peck – .360/.407/.680/1.087
Corey Julks – .360/.414/.840/1.254
Which one of these players has surprised you the most with his success at the plate?

Which player has surprised you the most with his success at the plate?

1. Riley Greene

2. Corey Julks/John Peck

3. Kevin McGonigle

4 Matt Vierling

It has to be Julks/Peck...I have never heard of them!

Gleyber Torres' WBC run with Venzuela will hopefully have much needed effect on Tigers.
Detroit needs THIS version of Gleyber.

Keider Montero's WBC showing with Venezuela leaves Tigers fans feeling conflicted.
Can he put it all together?
