Detroit Tigers Mlive Gameday: Don Kelly starts in center again, Ramon Santiago spells Jhonny Peralta at short. Good info here.

Jim Leyland talked over the weekend about trying to get Ramon Santiago a start during one of the games against the Astros. He’ll give Jhonny Peralta a game off tonight. Other than that, it’s the same lineup as last night. That includes Don Kelly,
The Astros placed their second baseman (and best hitter) Jose Altuve on the bereavement list following the death of his grandmother. He’ll miss the rest of the series. Jake Elmore, who was called up in Altuve’s place, gets the start at second and bats second.
“I played Kelly tonight because this guy is the type of pitcher Kelly might have success against,” Leyland said.
Right-handed hitters are actually batting higher against Harrell for the season (.338 compared to .274 for lefties), but lower for his career.

lmao swing the bat enough and sooner or later it'll hit the ball.

If Kelly might have success, imagine what Garcia might do...

Nice to see Infante moved up, instead of having to hit behind Kelly.

Why does he force reserves into the lineup????? Let's bench a guy hitting .417 over the last 10 games just because Santiago hasn't played in awhile. Pssst, Jimmy, Santiago not playing for awhile is a GOOD thing!!

I get playing Kelly today though. He kills this pitcher(1 for 2). lol

on a positive note, if your gonna rest some players, playing the Stros is the time to do it.

I don't mind giving a day off to a guy that's struggling or hurt, but Peralta is swinging the bat as well as he ever has since he's been here. I don't care who they're playing he should be playing.

my theory as well, if they are hot, keep them hot. once they cool down, then give them a rest, got to ride the horses. imo

I'd rather Peralta sit against Houston than the Rangers or the Indians, it's too bad he has to sit at all but you know Leyland and his players that are a lil' long in the tooth.

I would not be surprised to see Torii sit tomorrow.

I refuse to vote unless Don Freaking Kelly is added to the ballot!

Lol, Don Kelly with a write in.

Isn't that 3 straight CF starts for DK? I'm thinking/hoping Garcia gets a gig in CF for Wednesdays game. Playing CF with a RF'er throwing arm.
Leyland said, Torii is staying put in RF.
