He's by far the best pitcher in the bullpen, the handedness of the batter should have no impact on when he is used.

I'm not watching but didn't he already give up 2 hits in less than an inning? I imagine there were 2 guys on, a RH batter coming up and Al is the best K pitcher in the pen.

Carter is a career .216/.308/.433 hitter.

He sucks.

The odds are far greater that Smyly gets him out than that Carter gets a hit/gets on base.

Then Smyly, the best RP, can pitch the 9th inning as well.

Smyly should pitch 1-3 IP every time, preferably 2+ 75%+ of the time.

He should not be used as a regular RP.

Coke should not ever be allowed to pitch to a right handed batter. EVER!!! I don't care if we're up 18-1. Right handed bats have a 1.095 OPS against him this season before that hit.
