Tigers vs. indians Game Thread May 12

What really sick is Porcello looks like he pitched a good game and there it is 3rd out in the 10th inning at home! Really this is cause for concern Cleveland has caught the Tigers here at home in the standings, and Minnie not going away. KC is not the only one to watch out for this season! This is not good.

Tigers will win this division running away.

They'll win the division by 8 games minimum.

Haven't bases loaded been terrible for us now going on back to last season.. It is maddening who this team just can't blow games open anymore with the sacks full..

It's the same mistakes over and over and over again, they are too slow to pick up on pitch pattern adjustments, they are highly geared towards the fb to a fault, mccallister was only throwing two pitches today FFS!

How to hold the tigers offense in check, off speed strikes and keep the fastballs out of the zone...and crap pitchers are succesful with it over and over and over again. I wish they'd be smarter and adjust to it

That with our talent we will win 3 of the next 4 world series ( or something along those lines)
it just not going to happen the way DD has this team constructed and the way Marlboro man manages...

This team has way to much talent to be 20-15... I could care less what it averages out to they should have at least 25 wins by now..

If they had 25 wins they'd be on pace to win 115 games.

The Tigers offense is tied for the lead in MLB against sliders, 1st in MLB against cutters, 2nd in MLB against curveballs, 21st against changeups, and 13th against fastballs.

They destroy breaking pitches.

Good to know, the big boys weren't today they was out in front of just about everything not a fastball or taking it for a strike

With this talent and starting pitching they should win 105+ games.. But i could care less as long as the they win the WS... This season will be a complete failure unless the Tigers win it all. Period end of discussion.

I am very concerned about the bullpen and certain hitters are just not performing.. DD needed to do a better job getting a closer for this team.. Oh the bench....

This team is nowhere near talented enough to be expected to win 105 games.

There hasn't been a team in the past 5 years at least that would be projected to win 105 games.

I don't buy the "This season will be a complete failure unless the Tigers win it all." thing at all.

30 teams in baseball, 1/3 of those make the playoffs. In the playoffs anything can happen. Look at most of the World Series winners last several years as proof.

This team has been to two World Series in 7 years, and a World Series contender for a few, including this year.
Sentences like that are partly true, and partly out of frustration, at least how I feel about it.
Looking at the 'Star Power' and games like this make it very frustrating.
Some of the younger guys here have never seen a Tigers World Series Winner.
They are going on a 30 years drought. Only one other time longer, from 1901 to 1935.
I'm running out of years/time, and would like to have the same feelings of Tigers pride and happiness I did in 1968 and 1984.

With a record of 20-15 in the first 35 games good for a proportion .5714, there is a standard deviation of .0836.

A record of 25-10 in their first game would be a proportion of .7143.

A 25-10 record is only 1.71 standard deviations from the Tigers current record.

Basically, even if you assume the Tigers would have a ridiculous 71.43 WP%, them only winning 57.14% of their games within a 35 game sample is not unrealistic or unusual, it's well within the expected range.

I would consider this season a complete failure if they don't win the division. As far as the playoffs...too much can happen once teams get in. The season will be a success with a division title.

Hooray for Don Kelly batting 6th.

just shows how damn stupid Leyland is, you got Peralta and Infante both hitting the ball well as of late and coming into the game hitting .325. but dumbass Leyland hits him 6th with his buck something batting average.

so you must want V-Mart to hit 8th?

V-mart has a proven record of being a good hitter,Kelly doesn't.

I brought it up becase you said this:

"you got Peralta and Infante both hitting the ball well as of late and coming into the game hitting .325"

you are suggesting that the batting order should be determined on how a player is hitting "as of late"

it's as simple as this too me,after Cabrera, Fielder and V-mart bats, who's gonna hit them in? Donny Baseball,or 2 guys that are hitting .325 coming in, and have been seeing live pitching, instead of some mudhen coming in with his buck something batting average, that has been sitting the bench.
