Detroit Tigers Gameday: Max Scherzer on mound as Tigers try to cool off hottest team in baseball.
from Mlive

Max Scherzer is 1-3 with a 6.28 ERA in five starts at Progressive Field.

-- The forecast earlier in the day called for a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the game tonight, but it has cleared considerably since then. In fact, as of 4:15 p.m., Weather.com was calling for a zero percent chance of rain from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms at 10 p.m.

swisher out of indians lineup.

Would be nice to watch a Tigers win tonight to help put the mostly miserable rumpers series further behind in our rear-view mirrors.

Good looking lineup other than auto out at #8, I'll project a win tonight and then a loss tomorrow with JV

Tigers record during Austin Jackson's DL stints: 2012 8-13. 2013 3-5.

Tigers were 19 - 11, since 4 - 8.

Small sample size, but right-handed hitters are batting way higher (20-for-56, .357) off Corey Kluber than left-handed hitters (14-for-57, .256). It’s big enough for Jim Leyland to take a shot and start Matt Tuiasosopo against a right-hander for a change. With Tuiasosopo in left, Andy Dirks will make his first start in center since Sept. 26, 2011.

On the Indians side, Nick Swisher is out of the lineup tonight after his wife gave birth earlier today. No word yet whether he’ll go on the paternity list.

You’ve got a couple of good choices if you want to play a Tiger in MLB.com’s Beat the Streak game. Both Miguel Cabrera and Omar Infante have very good numbers off Corey Kluber. Cabrera is coming off a red-hot series in Texas, while Peralta is facing his old team. That said, Peralta went just 1-for-27 at Progressive Field last season. I still went with Peralta.

You can follow the game online via Gameday, watch online through MLB.TV or listen on MLB.com Gameday Audio. Locally, you can watch on Fox Sports Detroit and listen on 97.1 FM.

Wow, Leyland giving Kelly a day off and starting Tooey vs. a RHP?

They'll regret letting Cabby see that many pitches in his first AB.

Absolutely, he works the counts much better and often hits it hard, he'll be fine..Alex I'm not so sure will be.

I was being patient with him early but we are 40 games into the season and he is still hitting .200. It is time for him to put up some numbers!

Agree, not worried about Victor he has a great track record, but Alex is looking bad at the plate.

Thank God for Dan and Jim on the road games. The Indians announcers are horrible, and they have a woman who interviews in the stands that is worse than Shannon Hogan could ever be.

Another weak ass pitcher having his way with the Tigers.

This indians team is believing in themselves, and a lot of it has to do with francona and his style.

since 6-for-20 stretch lifted him back over .200 to .202 on May 10, Avila is 1-for-19.

Avila really only had 1, what looks to be a fluke, good season.

Not too mention one of the worst postseason stat lines that I've ever seen.

He's a 34 year old who spent most of his career at catcher and missed last season with a knee injury.

His track record means shit at this point.
