Toussaint to be starting RB

"I'm going to be the starting running back Aug. 31."

more bulletin board material for the spartans...

I read it as he thinks he will, like showing confidence in himself, not him having confirmation he will.

I've never seen the kid play but if hes as good as people say Green should have him beat sometime quick this season if not opening day.

I'm one to believe that you don't lose your starting job due to injury, if those other RB's want the job, their going to have to take it from him.

I'm quite certain he starts opening day. Very slim chance Hoke doesn't let a senior RB, who was a starter as a junior before injury, be the starter on opening day. Maybe if there were other factors like off-field behavior or injury, but Fitz will start without question if he is healthy and he has shown good behavior. Green could start at some point in the season, but opening day is for Fitz, I don't care how good the freshman is. That is why Hoke is loved by his players, he respects who they are and what they have done for the team throughout their career.

I know freshman will start, but not over seniors who were starters as juniors.

I'm hoping we have two healthy, awesome RBs all season. It would be great if Fitz earns the starting spot and Green is so good that we have to get them a combined 20 or 25+ touches a game. Optimist Prime.

I'm a bit concerned about Green this year. He's up to 240lbs and has battled weight issues for years. I hope this doesn't continue.

I think if he loses his job, it won't be because of injury, it'll be because either on the practice field or the game field someone else shows that they are the better running back.

Gotta agree. Who starts isn't always who gets the most and/or the most important carries though.

Yep, what is more important to me is who is getting the majority of the carries in week 2 or even in week 6.

It doesn't really matter to me who starts vs CMU.

Fitz should start on opening day. Green will get his chance and I would expect if he wins the starting position, he will start on opening day his senior year if he holds the position and contributes to the team. That is the way we roll at Michigan. I agree if both are great and can split carries it would be ideal. No more 50 carries a game. That beats the hell out of em.

GO BLUE!

Right. I see Fitz starting and Green spelling him for rest time.
I will assume we have a healthy lead at the half. 2nd half we will see Rawls and the others, and maybe more Green depending on how many touches the coaches want to see from the entire stable of RBs.

If the RBs can soften up the D, we should see some nice screen passes to the TEs and RBs as well, and some long balls to the new guys.

I'm looking forward to spreading the ball all over the field.

Ya gotta have two backs. When I started following Michigan at the beginning of the Bo era, they ran the power I, so there were two backs there already.

but can we run the Power I and still spread balls all over the field, like RABID wants?

I think Fitz shouldn't lose his job due to injury ...
Being the "starter" is pretty much irrelevant ... start the first play of the game and then ride the pine and you're still a "starter" versus coming off the bench and contributing ...and I believe Hoke will honor the tradition of deferring to experience and seniors.

Green will be an integral part of the running scheme and if you need a precedent with Borges for running a "two back system," just look at Auburn.

Sure. Power I has FB, HB, and TB plus TE; Any of which can run block, pass block, or catch a screen!
