USA Today Coaches poll out

I think its to high for us but I am OK with it. I just wish I had more faith in our lines right now.

..... And there's noter dame sucks with it's annual Top 25 pre-season ranking based on "tradition."

Normally, I wouldn't think a #8 would be a 2 touchdown underdog to the #2 team.

I guess people just feel there is that much separation at the top. I wonder what the spread would be for Michigan/USC and Michigan/Oklahoma.

Sparty is going to cry

Where is OSU? Are they inelgible for this, too?

Then again, it's the coaches poll. Half of the grad assistants filling the polls out probably haven't seen Michigan play...basing the whole ranking on "11-2 + BCS win".

I recently saw some footage with someone complaining about how old a Noter Daim has to be to remember a "great" ND team.

The fine print!!

AFCA policy bars schools under major NCAA or conference sanctions from receiving votes. Schools affected this season are North Carolina, Ohio State and Penn State. Central Florida will remain eligible until the NCAA rules on the school's appeal.

Part of me wondered and part of me just wanted to have it pointed out...again.

I love how Clemson is so highly thought of every freaking year, and they end up falling flat on their face.

that bowl loss to WVU made absolutely no sense.

I think they were an overachieving team that had a lot of talent, but not a lot of experience dealing with adversity or playing together, and they just completely fell apart as soon as WVU got a lead. WVU was on pace for like 100 pts or something at one point.

anyways... based on the Bowls, I would put VaTech several slots above Clemson; VaTech's QB is good & he was young. I don't think Clemson blanks them again like they did in 2011. no way.

5 SEC teams in the Top 10...

2 PAC12

1 BIG TEN

1 ACC

1 Big XII

ridiculous.

Did Ok St lose 1/2 their team? They went from being kept out of the BCS championship to 19th?

Texas, Fla, and ND did nothing to deserve those rankings.

and who the heck gave FSU a first place vote?

No, it made zero sense. West Virginia had the most uninspiring 9-3 record in the NCAA (wins over teams like Marshall, Norfolk State, UCONN, BGSU). I thought that bowl game would have been at least competitive. Clemson is just one of those teams that will get the hype every preseason, start out hot, and then fall flat on their face. They had a decent year in 2011, but they just don't seem to have the steam to get over the top.

Sparty has 5 returning starters on offense... Oh and they lost their best defensive player they've had since Julian Peterson. Their D will be strong but a lot is riding on Bell. They should be happy with that preseason ranking and an 8 win season.

Notre Dame shouldn't even be ranked but it happens every year. If I had to bet I would say they go 5-7 with their schedule, no QB, no run game and no secondary.. Oh and Brian Kelly gets shit canned and goes back to the MAC or Big East. Maybe even back to GVSU.

Sparty lost half of their starters and only moved down 1 spot since last season.

With Clemson, half of the hype is because of Dabo Sweeney ....and not because he's a great coach, but because his name is Dabo and he's known for his Howard Dean screams...

Their QB Tajj Boyd was recruited by Dick Rod too and seems rather solid.

But yeah, Clemson tends to gag away any pre-season hype at some point each year.

True, but JL Smith at Arkansas is not a top 10 team; despite their ranking. I guarantee they won't end up even in the top 20. And it also doesn't help that 2 of the big ten teams can't even be ranked.

They are the opposite of Clemson. They always have to prove themselves at the beginning of the year, and they always do against a top-tier opponent. I would not be surprised if they got it done against MSU. Losing Moore hurts big time, but for whatever reason, BSU has a knack for getting it done.
