Wildcard Game #2: Detroit Tigers @ Cleveland Guardians, Wednesday October 1st, 2025, 1:08 Pm

Was at work and when we had the first two runners on and failed to score yet again I realized we would probably lose. Not one player other than Baez is trying to hit the ball the other way. Not one player shorten’s their swing when they have 2 strikes on them. The first half of the season I remember Greene and McKinstry hitting balls to left field. This is so frustrating.

  • Team RISP 1-15
  • Báez 1-1,
  • Jones 0-1,
  • Meadows 0-2,
  • Pérez 0-3,
  • Greene 0-2,
  • Carpenter 0-2,
  • Dingler 0-1
  • Tork 0-2
  • Malloy 0-1)

Frankly I’ll be rooting for the tigers to lose tomorrow as I really don’t want to see anymore of this strand 15,000 runners a game putrid blows dead goats offense. + when you blow a 15 game lead you really don’t deserve to be playing in OCT.

At min the offense needs to upgrade 3rd and SS with better hitters. Get Sweeney, Rogers and Ibanez outta here, Beaz should only play vs lefties and serve as a late inning defensive replacement. Let Torres walk and put Keith back as the main 2B guy.

Agreed with all that.

WILD CARD GAME #2 – PLAYOFF POLL.
Totally Tigers

The 2nd wild card game between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians turned out not to be as we wanted. It was a close game until the 8th inning.
Manager A. J. Hinch did everything he could to try to stop the Guardians from scoring and to maximize the Tigers’ chances of plating some runs.
He made 2 interesting moves.
  1. He pulled Casey Mize in the 4th inning (12 batters) and 68 pitches despite the concerns over the bullpen. Mize was already through the lineup almost twice. It’s when you face them for the 3rd time that the chances of giving up hits rises significantly. He gave up 1 hit (a HR) and 1 ER. However, he gave up 2 walks and only 1 K. Fewer than half of his pitches were strikes. The next 2 relievers kept Cleveland scoreless.
  2. Hinch pulled Riley Greene in the 7th inning with 1 man on base for pinch-hitter Jahmai Jones. Riley struggles against LHP and Jones does much better against them. Greene has a total of 3 hits and 8 strikeouts in his last 5 games. The score was tied 1-1 and in his last 5 games, including against the Guardians, Riley has only driven in 1 run.
Given the evidence, do you agree with both moves made by Hinch?
Do you agree with the 2 moves A. J. Hinch made in the 2nd wild card game?

1. Yes, both good moves.

2. No, they shouldn't have been made.

3. Agree only on removing Mize.

4. Agree only on removing Greene.

I just looked again.. The Rocchio homer was on a 0-2 count.
Im just saying I think we tip our pitches in these counts a
lot of the time. That pitch was right down the middle at 99
Mph. The arrogance of the staff and dingler catching is
so aggravating.

. You do not throw a strike there. Period .

Idk I can’t even get to complaining about AJ. It’s moot as the offense is a complete joke
