AJ Hinch's explanation for Riley Greene pinch hit won't distract from Tigers reality.
It's a harsh reality at that.

The Tigers ranked 27th among the 30 MLB teams with a 28% strikeout rate and stumbled to a 3-13 record over their final 16 games in the regular season.
The chief culprits?
Spencer Torkelson: 39.1%
Wenceel Pérez: 34.9%
Riley Greene: 32.3%
Kerry Carpenter: 27.1%
those 4 guys, plus Torres. It's hard to win when all 4 are not making any contact or walking.

Wait, the Tigers Pinch-Hit for Riley Greene?
Fangraphs

Jack Flaherty's average fastball was 92.9 MPH in '25. In September, it was 93.2.
Why does that matter?
In Flaherty's 15 starts where his fastball averaged less than 93 MPH, his ERA was 5.80
In Flaherty's 16 starts where his fastball averaged more than 93 MPH, his ERA was 3.60

Thank you Scott Harris for bringing us Chris paddack (no longer on team),
Charlie Morton (no longer on team), Paul Sewald (no longer on team),
Codi Heuer (no longer on team), Rafael Montero (unplayable).
And no quality bats at the deadline!

Concerning Tigers' playoff stat must change if they want to win a World Series.
Detroit’s arms keep delivering in October. The missing piece is what happens when traffic shows up.

Tigers notebook: What’s Spencer Torkelson’s status for Game 3?
Mlive

I fully expect Greene to hit a homer today and Flaherty to pitch a gem

Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Hope whatever happens prompts some positive changes to the roster during the offseason.

How does Perez move up in the lineup? He better come up with the most clutch hit to end this series.

That was not a strike, hard enough as it is hitters trying to force pitcher into the zone and that really is going to make it impossible.

Those are home calls. Thats what we get for a colossal choke job this season.

I hate shitbag greene. At least the 1st inning guys drove up the pitch count. Clevelands pen is taxed. Then this putz swings first pitch.

Same ol shit chance to do some serious damage hacked away by perez. That will probably be the only run the tigers score today. Tork at least battled a little bit
