I hear you on that, the older IBM's seemed to hold up well but the recent models really are bad. The USB ports are weak and tend to break. Go get combofix from www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/combofix. That should handle rootkits and registry hacks that will allow the virus to self install on your computer along with permission hacks on the PC to make sure it is clean.
