Tigers vs. yankees ALCS Game Thread 1 Oct. 13

Valverde is done as our closer, and Leyland is a huge fucker. That said, regardless of tonight's outcome I still believe they can beat the Yankees in this series.

    Maggs annoucing his retirement Sunday

I'm so happy for Maggs that he is retiring as a Tiger. It's kinda nice to see him in a way stick it to his old team the White Sox. His undeniably amazing 2007 season sticks out where he hit .363 and won the AL batting title to go along with 139 RBI. He really had a tremendous career, with a...

Tigers vs. yankees Game Thread June 2

I was at the game last night, the first HR was the longest one I've ever seen at CoPa, probably longer than one David Ortiz hit a couple years ago to right center. His second HR last night was amazing, I bet when combined they were two of the longest ever hit in tandem in one game.

    Tigs 5/2 Lineup vs Royals.

#3-6 hitter combined 0-15, there is plenty of blame to go around for today's loss, not just JL.

    Fans Booing Inge

Fans pay very good money for tickets. When Inge gets up with the bases loaded and craps his pants, or boots a double play like he did last night, he deserved every single boo, including mine from section 105. Furthermore, you not booing doesn't make you a better or worse fan than those who do...

So apparently Inge has only had one bad season

One bad year? Gimme some of that smoke!

    The Moneyball Myth

I just saw Moneyball last night, it was pretty good but I also kept thinking they didn't mention ANYTHING about their starting staff. For heaven's sake, Zito won 23 games lol. If I was him, I'd be a little pissed about it. Still, it was entertaining and is a must see for all baseball fans.

    Tigers

Quit hating MI_Thumb, what's good for Dirks can be good for the Tigers especially if he improves his game a little. No one is expecting Lou Gehrig reincarnate, but he plays a decent outfield, runs the bases well and will get a few hits. Not bad for a fourth outfielder.

    LOL @ Inge

Too bad Inge couldn't stick with catching, a .197 batting average doesn't look so bad behind the plate.

    New Batting Order?

I think Delmon is going to have a monster year, perhaps the best of his career (which admittedly has been very disappointing). He should easily knock in over 100 rbi, hit around .275, with 25 HR. I don't know about Avila, hopefully last year wasn't a fluke, but I sorta see his numbers dipping...

OT: Miami Marlins Stadium Homer Gimmick

Yeah I wouldn't want to try to hit a 95 mph heater while seeing that monstrosity in my peripheral vision, what a shame.

    Worst case scenario, not bad

Are we that much better than last year? Probably so, but not a great deal. Are we better than we were 2 days ago? Hells yeah bucko. I'll take Raburn/Dirks in LF in 2012. I think we could see a platoon at DH/LF with Raburn/Dirks/Delmon depending on starting pitching matchups. Could be a lot...

    Worst case scenario, not bad

I like your ideas randyf10, and I think the best case is that it works out and we can keep both Miggy and Prince. Gun to my head, I like the future career of Miggy more than Prince, and think he is the prize worth keeping in the long run.

Should have just thrown money at Reyes..

Injury issues with Reyes, and a complete and total lack of injuries with Fielder, likely played a big role in our signing Fielder rather than Reyes.

    New Batting Order?

    +1

    New Batting Order?

Historically, the best hitter in the lineup bats third, often with a higher OBP. Last year, Miguel hit 4th because he was the closest thing to a cleanup hitter we had. Leyland agreed with you last year, cleanup is the most important spot. But, if you have a great 3 and 4 hitter, it makes more...

    New Batting Order?

No offense dude, but why in the hell would you want their slowest runner Avila leading off? Also, 99% of managers don't swap their 3 and 4 hitters based on the pitcher. Cabrera is still their best hitter, clearly better than Prince, and will deservedly hit 3rd this year. Prince will hit 4th...

    Tigers sign Fielder?

Love this signing, LOVE it! This guy Prince is young, right in the middle of his prime, extremely durable, and hits left-handed! Couldn't ask for more, plus now we can be rid of Inge as an everyday player!!! I can't wait to see how the fans at CoPa embrace the Prince as one of our own...
