Looks like the Mariners are willing to eat 15 million of his contract. I think the guy can bounce back and would be worth $1 million a year for 2 seasons.

He has a great glove and a change could do him good.

The Chone Figgins' signing has been nothing short of a disaster for the Mariners, which is why the team is willing to include cash in any trade involving the infielder according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. There isn't much interest right now, but Morosi says the Mariners view the Reds, Giants, and Tigers as possible trade fits.

Figgins, 33 in January, has hit just .236/.309/.285 with 53 steals in 74 chances during his two years in Seattle. He can play second and third bases, and has also filled in at left field in recent years. There are still two years and $17MM left on his contract, and a $9MM option for 2014 will vest with 600 plate appearances in 2013. It's not unreasonable to think the Mariners will have to eat upwards of $15MM to move Figgins.

Figgins = Inge.

Can play good to great D, and can't hit worth a damn.

What role would we possibly want him in?

He's no better than Inge, who we already are stuck with, and no way you dump another horrible bat into this lineup.

Figgins has as much trade value as Inge does, which is negative.

if we dont give up too much for him and the mariners do indeed eat that much of the contract, i would love to have figgins. his problem isnt that he sucks, his problem is that he plays in that offensive wasteland in seattle. plus, a large part of the reason for his ultra-low numbers this year was an abysmally unlucky .215 BABIP. he's great in the field, good on the basepaths, and even in his pretty down year in '10 his OBP was .340. I think a change of scenery for a few years would do him wonders.

When was the last time Inge was good to great with the glove?

I brought this up before as well. It could be a steal if its cheap...if it doesn't work out, then you move on. He oculd have a bounce back year.

Figgins would have to be supercheap...otherwise nothing to see here.

If you want to get technical, Inge's glove has always been great, it's his arm that's most of his undoing.
