Reports out that Rose was traded to the Knicks for Dennis Smith jr. and a second round pick.

In a vacuum, this seems like a pretty standard deal. Rose this year has been inefficient as a scorer, but still a decent shot creator off the bench. He's not a shooter or great defender. Getting a second rounder is about right. Smith jr. is... pointless, really. He's young, but about to be a free agent, so we don't have cheap years left to just take a look. And he's been garbage in the league so far.

Taking a step back, this is kind of a repeat of the Drummond deal. A player that could have easily gotten a first rounder is kept too long until his value disappears.

That's the NBA for ya. A no nothing deal that doesn't help the team now or in the future.

Typical. I can't believe they didn't trade him last year. There had to be one team that offered more than a 2nd??
