It's Wednesday AM and it looks like this thing is going to go down to the wire.

I suppose that's good. I was somewhat relieved this morning to see it hadn't been called,
expecting it would take longer to count mail-in ballots due to the pandemic.

Honestly, since both candidates are terrible, I care less about who wins than I do ensuring that all votes are counted correctly. If Trump pulls it off again, I'd rather it be legit, than tainted.

looks like it might come down to Michigan

I did a double take when they first showed results from the state, and it was 59-39 Trump. Then they showed what counties were reporting, and it was the Amway/Devos ones, and Macomb, where all the Italians that think Mussolini was a great leader for his country, live.

He made the trains run on time.

Can always count on you to express yourself with temperance.

I know Macomb county well... my grandparents moved there from Detroit in the 80's. They would say things like "If you understand history, you'd know Hitler did do a lot of good things for Germany. The liberal media isn't being fair to Marge Schott."

they also read Weekly World News for the "news" and would definitely be QAnon people if they were still around today.

So your grandparents are representative of the entire population. Got it. I know Macomb, too. Worked in it for five years. My brother lives in it. As do numerous friends. They don't share your grandparents' opinions.

This is America... trains are communist, and also bad because they force white people to be in physical proximity to the other races. Even Joe gets that now.

Good! Maybe there's hope for Macomb county, then.

and they no doubt represented all or at least enough of Macomb county that the guy who is always bitching about how bigoted others are feels comfortable generalizing about the entire county, just like he is generalizing about Christians, Jews particularly pro-Israel Jews, Chaldeans, white people who aren't socialists, etc, etc. But it's the people who disagree with him that are the bigots.

wasn't Joe talking about how he doesn't want his kids growing up in a racial jungle, fighting against school desegregation and praising Robert Byrd on the floor of the Senate back when he was commuting on Amtrak?

Sherman thought differently of railroads. He was also an advocate of this:

Yep. He's always been racist. I didn't vote for him, and have no problem with anyone attacking him, or Kamala Harris. I don't even view him as a "lesser of two evils" compared to Trump... especially after all the Bush Neocons signed letters endorsing him over Trump. It's a matter of "different evils," I guess.

I think right now, it's probably best for the country to get Trump out... we reeeeeeally don't need a president who's going to encourage his supporters to go shoot people and attack them right now. Honestly if it wasn't for Trump and the GOP pushing widespread voter suppression (while howling about "voter fraud"), and threatening violence to stay in power, I'd be hard pressed to admit there was any meaningful difference whatsoever between the two candidates.

I think Bill only hated Southern railroads.

Though He didn't have much use for Northern ones either... the Christian god gave his troops feet to walk on, and plenty of Georgia slave owners to plunder food from. Best things the Christian god ever did, IMO.

Such cherished memories Election Day brings back.

No wonder they coincide with the beginning of the holiday season every two years.
