FBI upset that soon they won't be able to spy on your phone

Basically saying encrypted devices help people "place themselves beyond the law".

Seems ridiculous that having a phone/tablet that cannot be snooped by the FBI would be such a big deal considering how much time the FBI spends dealing with criminals who break in to peoples phones to steal identities, CC info, and personal data.

given that they've been finding ways to trample all over our Constitutional rights - without any accountability - since the days of Hoover, I guess it's not surprising they feel that way.

I still don't believe they won't have a way to eavesdrop on whatever they want... unless you've designed & built the device yourself, AND you're a professional cryptologist. All these tech companies get their arms twisted constantly by the feds to give them access, turn over data, etc., and they have all sorts of levers to pull to make them comply.
