Hearing a very, very bad rumor, ACL, out for the year. That would essentially kill this team, losing Carter and Schilling before the first game. We could go with some draymond type small ball with Goins/Ward/Bridges, but that's really a lot to ask of this team.

*rolls eyes* Im surpised its not a stress fracture, thats the Izzo protocol pre-eason injury. That really mucks things up. There will be another major injury soon to follow im sure.

Just make the tourney. You lose Davis early as an unexpected I'll advised NBA departure, then get a 5th year transfer for depth, who then has a knee injury, now schilling. We lost 2 guys for the season at the same position

He didn't play at midnight madness, but I saw a video of him dancing during it so it didn't look like he was hurt that bad.

If so, better start combing the football team. Cole Chewins played in HS.

They just released a statement that he had a non contact knee injury Friday at practice and will need surgery. No timetable for when he'll be back.

Supposedly happened this weekend. The AD just issued a statement saying knee surgery, no timetable

Well there could be a silver lining to the football season being horrible. Might be able to grab a few bodies for the bb team November 27th.

This may have implications for next year if schilling decides to return

Schilling is terrible. Sorry to hear about his injury but it won't affect this team that much. We can find someone else to commit 4 stupid fouls a game.

You must not follow MSU basketball. When you lose 2 guys at the 5 spot and now need a freshman who's not ready to give you 30 minutes then you're in trouble. You can handle an injury to either carter or schilling but not both.

Yes, it will be very hard to find someone to replace his 10 minutes, 2 points, 2 rebounds and 4 fouls a game.

Are you being serious???? I'll remember this post Nov. 29th when Duke has 9 guys taller than our tallest guy.

There's a lot more to basketball than a box score, like defending on the pick and roll and being able to switch 1 through 5. Schilling was our best big on the Italy trip last year before he got hurt.

Im not a fan of Schilling at all (hes very frustrating to watch) but under the circumstances we need the guy.

we've had a history of big men that have been frustrating and then having excellent senior years. Guys like Nix, Suton, Costello, etc. Schilling has shown flashes of very good basketball and he plays a position that was already thin with the departure of DD and injury to Carter. Let's just hope that Nick Ward turns out to be the next Ethan Happ. as far as his game, I'm not really worried about him on the offensive end, he has a better post game than anyone on the roster, defending will be an issue as will be conditioning.

If he can get some more boards, limit turnovers, fouls and be some sort of presence under the hoop on D im happy. I liked costello for his entire career mostly. Nix, Suton and costello all had pretty good hands and could convert under the hoop, Schilling has anagonye syndrome and he is a lost cause at the stripe. Regardless, Its a big drawback not having that body in this situation.

So 3 true freshman starting? That's going to be a lot of fun!

Bridges and Langford starting is a very good thing, getting 5 star freshmen who are ready to contribute. Ward isn't quite ready for prime time on the defensive end. it would be great to be able to bring him along in a reserve role and have someone behind him when there's foul trouble. I'm disappointed about the Carter/Schilling injuries but starting freshmen in college BB is a good thing....if it's by choice, not injuries forcing someone into a role.

Problem is there's NOBODY now at the 5 behind Ward. We'll have no one taller than 6-6 on the floor when he needs a breather or gets in foul trouble.

If there ever was a year to play some zone, this would be it
