The Detroit Tigers placed second baseman Jonathan Schoop on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right ankle on Tuesday.

Schoop got hurt on Saturday while trying to elude a tag at home plate. On Sunday, he was wearing a boot and navigating the clubhouse on a scooter but still hoping to avoid a stint on the injured list.

The Tigers waited until Tuesday afternoon before ultimately making the call to give him some extra rest.

To take Schoop?s spot on the roster, the Tigers recalled infielder Zack Short.
