This team had players who could look spectacular in moments then turn around and crap the bed at the end.

Maybe the coaching staff is crap.

Or the players were young. Jett, Dug, Reed were all true freshman. Tschetter was a RS freshman. Kobe was a soph, but he's younger than Jett. Hunter and T-Will were the only guys with a good amount of experience.

That much youth and inexperience can easily lead to inconsistency.
