If he blames himself then want not fire him. Once I'd like a GM to say "yeah the players sucked. I did too but they sucked more."

Quinn praised Stafford so much. He is here for 8 or more years

Valenti is like many who don't get this point. It's not about 10 wins or even 12 wins. Its about playoff wins. If that's not happening Quinn should be gone, same with Patty.

If the Lions miss the playoffs again next year, I can't imagine Quin keeping his job. He shouldn't, supposedly the Lions are in win now mode, lol.

That was the point I was trying to make, he should get fired if he doesn't WN a playoff game. Getting there is nothing. 7 teams that missed last season are in now. AGAIN, he needs a playoff WIN.

You want guys to take responsibility but when a guy does you flip the script. Wtf

Breaking down Bob Quinn?s presser highlights, Detroit Lions offseason plan. 61 minutes.
Jeremy Reisman and John Whiticar chatted about the Lions GM?s end-of-year presser.

It?s not often we get to hear from Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn, so when he spoke to the media on Friday for nearly an hour?making sure that literally every reporter in the crowded room had their question answered?there was a lot to digest at the end of it.

Quinn talked about everything from the odd Robert Ayers situation to the Golden Tate trade to the Lions? upcoming offensive coordinator search, to the Matt Patricia sexual assault allegations that came to light back in May.

To break down everything that was said and assess what it means for the Detroit Lions going forward, myself (Jeremy Reisman) and John Whiticar (@Wrath_of_John) talked for an hour about our impressions of the press conference.

Topics include our overall thoughts about Quinn as a general manager, his failed plans at tight end, his commitment to Matthew Stafford, his thoughts on the future of players like Teez Tabor and Ezekiel Ansah and much, much more.

We?re trying this on a new platform. No more Facebook Live. The kids are all about Twitch these days. Let us know what you think of it, and if we get enough positive responses, we?ll continue to do these throughout the offseason and beyond! You can follow the channel so that you get updates every time we go live!

No, we just want him to say, "Yes, the entire team needs to play better, including Matt."

Instead, Quinn basically said it was everyone else's fault except him.

Stafford is untouchable in Allen Park. And that's what is frustrating. He's a big boy. He can handle being told publically that he needs to step his game up.

Stafford had 100 rating then upper 90s. Then all his weapons, blocking and run game for the most part was gone. 14 turnovers forced by d was 31st in the league

Quinn watched the games. He knows the problem wasn’t stafford

Eagles turned it over 20 times in 2017. Won a super bowl. Lions turned it over 19 times in 2018

Only idiots blame Stafford

It's a matter of consistency and continuous improvement.

Aside from Millen, who was truly terrible, Lions teams have been constantly up and down and it's beyond frustrating. Even if they sniff the playoffs you can count on them missing out the following year. They've had consecutive playoff appearances twice...TWICE...since the merger and introduction of the WC in 1970 (1982-3 & 1993-5). They've also strung together three consecutive winning seasons only once in that time period (also 1993-5). It's always one step forward and (fill in the blank) steps back.

Regardless of the new HC, this was truly a disappointing third season for Quinn. One could argue that a new GM probably doesn't have much impact on the first season (and maybe second) working with an inherited roster, but should show their value as time goes on and they build the team in their image. That image doesn't seem to be particularly good right now.

With all that said, I'm leaning towards agreeing with you. This team doesn't appear to be moving in the right direction and that falls on the GM, it's more of the same Lions rollercoaster.

We may rag on Stafford a lot, but there's no guarantee that getting rid of Stafford means good times ahead, finding and developing a good QB is not an easy task. When the time comes are we going to trust Quinn to find that guy? or should that decision go to someone else?

I just don't want to see the Lions wait too long if this Quinn-Patricia experiment isn't working out, I fear they'll burn a high 1st on a QB and then blow up the team.

Luck just got a playoff win
88 rating day. Stafford 89 on the season

Must be nice to have a team run for 200 yards and hold a team to 7 points in a playoff game

If lions did that, stafford would have a playoff win

You're implying that Luck and Stafford both need to be carried across the finish line by others. I agree with you for once.

No.

I am just saying any qb gets a playoff win with 200 yards rushing and 7 points allowed
