Detroit Lions signing CB Justin Coleman to record-breaking 4-year deal.
Detroit’s first big splash into free agency is in the secondary.

Not the greatest signing, but the price of slot CB's is trending up. Maybe it looks like a good contract in 2 years

9 per. Depends how structured too..good slot cb..set for four years..been a problem for a bit here

8.6 for slot cb tavon young by stingy ravens

Kareem jackson gets 11 per

CB's gettin PAID this year..... Don't mind this signing as long as the kid preforms as advertised.

I'm really mixed on this one. $9 mill per year for a CB that ONLY plays slot seems insane to me. On the other hand the league seems to be trending in a direction that requires this type of specialist.

Feels like a luxury pick. Does nothing to alleviate my concerns of who will be CB opposite of Slay.

Go draft Greedy Williams now and make this secondary lights-out. Or Devin White, he could mask a lot of Davis's issues in the middle of the defense.

Maybe instead of the nickel, they should call the position he plays the seven cents or even the eight cents.

*I had made this post on the wrong thread earlier.

Anyone know why Greedy is falling? I heard he looked stiff at the combine drills.

He cant tackle...trade down then target Greedy, Polite or Sweat.

If you stay at 8 im thinking they may target an olineman/RG. Im cooling off on Devin White....mainly due to value. Take him at 8 are you getting a Roquan Smith or Luke Kuechly?....not even close imo.

I saw Sweat going #6 in a recent mock.

I?d rather go White and Justin Layne

Two instant starters.

Are Detroit Lions paying Justin Coleman to be more than a slot CB?

Looking at Justin Coleman's contract, all but $1.1 million of his $19 million guaranteed coming in the first two years. $10.145 million of it is in signing bonus. His cap numbers the last two years are $11,536,250. Based on this, he's going to have to play really well to see the last two years of this deal in my opinion — although depending on the new CBA it might not be as bad at all.
For perspective, Darius Slay has a $15.9 million cap hit this year and a $13.4 million hit next year.

My dream scenario... highly unlikely
Rd 1 trade down greedy
Rd 2 jaylon Ferguson

I?m not sold on Ferguson. I think we would be better off getting a speed rushing DE....even if it?s a mid round project that is a 3rd down guy this year.

I?m big on Layne. Not just because he?s a Spartan....but he has size, isn?t afraid to tackle and is a damn good cover corner. He?s just always in the right spot and didn?t have the PI issues Trey Waynes had.

Good 2nd round pick, IMO.

But I agree....trade down if the return is good enough. A lot of really good players available at 15-45.....maybe even Greedy.

Ya i think Layne is super underrated. He showed speed at the combine too which i thought was going to be a problem. Guy always making plays on the ball. He might even be a 3rd rd steal with how many corners are moving up the boards. Other mid round guys i like are
Mike Weber rb

David sills wr. Reminds me alot of thielen... not just cause he's white.

The Lions have also made the Justin Coleman signing official. He signed a four-year, $36 million contract including a $10.145 million signing bonus and $19 million guaranteed either fully or for injury only. His cap hit for 2019 is $3,391,250. He has $50,000 workout bonuses worked into every year of his contract.
