#19 Michigan Women?s Lacrosse teams improve to 5-3 beating Osu 14-12.
 
Women improve to 6-3 beating Bearcats pretty easily 16-3.
 
Michigan girls beat Penn st 10-8 improving to 10-5 and 3-2 in conference.
 
#13 Girls season ends with a loss to #25 at home 14-7 . They finish 5-5 and 10-6 overall.

Women are in big ten quarterfinals

The No. 19-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team will host No. 18 Penn State in a Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal contest on Saturday (April 29) at noon at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. The game will be streamed live on B1G+, with Dean Linke and Taylor Thornton on the call.

? Michigan and Penn State will face off for the second time this season. The Wolverines defeated the Nittany Lions 10-8 at U-M Lacrosse Stadium during the regular season.

? U-M will make its fifth Big Ten Tournament appearance in program history. This season, the conference went back to all seven teams making the tournament with three quarterfinal games and the No. 1 seed earning a bye. The Wolverines will be making their first appearance in the tournament since the 2021 season and are looking for their first B1G Tournament win.

? Graduate students Erin Garvey and Morgan Whitaker, juniors Maddie Burns and Josie Gooch and sophomore Jill Smith were named to All-Big Ten teams on Wednesday (April 26). Garvey, Burns and Smith earned first-team honors, the second for Burns and the first for Garvey and Smith, while Gooch and Whitaker earned second-team honors, the second for Whitaker]and the first for Gooch.

? Smith set the Michigan single-season scoring and points records with 52 goals this season -- eclipsing the previous mark of 41 -- and 60 points, breaking the previous record of 58. For her efforts this season, Smith became just the fourth player in program history to be named a Tewaaraton Nominee, joining Arielle Weissman (2022), Molly Garrett (2021) and Mira Shane (2019).

? Junior Maya Santa-Maria became just the fourth goalie in U-M history to reach the 100-save mark in a single season. With 16 starts this season, she has made 107 saves, with five or more in 11 games. Santa-Maria joins the list of Allison Silber, Mira Shane and Arielle Weissman.

? Junior Lily Montemarano leads the Wolverines with 60 draw controls this season and ranks eighth in the Big Ten with 3.75 wins per game. She has produced nine games with three or more draw-control wins and set a Michigan single-game record with 10 against Rutgers.

? The fourth-seeded University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (6-6, 2-3 B1G), ranked No. 14 in the USILA Coaches Poll and No. 17 in the Inside Lacrosse Media poll, will host the first Big Ten Tournament game in program history at U-M Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday (April 29) against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The 3:30 p.m. contest will be broadcast on BTN+.

? Junior Michael Boehm, coming off his single-game record eight-goal performance in U-M's 19-14 win over Ohio State last week, leads the Big Ten in goals per game (2.67) and points-per-game (4.42). He is second in the conference in shooting percentage (50 percent) -- sixth nationally -- and boasts a team-best six hat-tricks on the season.

? U-M has had back-to-back sellout crowds for the first time in program history. The Wolverines welcomed 2,387 fans to U-M Lacrosse Stadium on April 16 versus Penn State and followed most recently with 2,057 fans against Ohio State.

? The Wolverines are led by the attack trio of Boehm, sophomore Ryan Cohen (3.83) and senior Josh Zawada (3.83), all of whom rank in the top-three in the Big Ten in points-per-game. Collectively, the attack trio is one of three lines in the country where all three members are ranked in the top-50 in points per game. Zawada enters the weekend six points shy of 200 for his career with 194 (108G, 86A), while Cohen is one point from becoming the eighth Wolverine to notch 100 points as he enters the Big Ten Tournament with 99 points (51G, 48A).

? Michigan tops the Big Ten and ranks sixth nationally in shooting percentage, converting on 34 percent of shots taken (162-of-479). Boehm is sixth nationally and second in the Big Ten (50 percent), while senior midfielder Jacob Jackson tops the leaderboard for midfielders with a 44 percent number as he has cashed in on 16-of-36 shots.

? Michigan is 5-0 when scoring 15-plus goals, 3-1 when committing fewer turnovers, and 4-1 when scoring first in a contest.

? The Wolverines boast the top faceoff duo in the nation, as the pairing of graduate student Nick Rowlett and junior Justin Wietfeldt combine to make up the nation's No. 3 faceoff unit (62 percent). Individually, Rowlett is No. 14 and winning 59 percent of his draws, while Wietfeldt is No. 2 and winning 66 percent. Both also rank in the top-five in the Big Ten in ground ball per game at 6.17 and 5.08, respectively.

? The back-to-back matchup marks the second time in program history that U-M has played one opponent in consecutive weeks. The Wolverines played at Ohio State last season to end the regular season on April 24, as well as one week later in the Big Ten Quarterfinals (April 30). OSU was victorious in both matchups.

The No. 15-ranked Big Ten Tournament champion University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (9-6), will trek to Ithaca, N.Y., to take on No. 6-ranked and eighth-seeded Cornell in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament on Sunday (May 14) at 2:30 p.m. The Wolverines' first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

? Six Wolverines will return to their home state for Saturday's game in seniors Jake Bonomi (Northport) and Kevin Pimental (Massapequa), juniors Justin Brown (Dix Hills), Trevor Kessel (Shoreham-Wading River), Caden Hawkinson (Cold Spring Harbor), and sophomore Aidan Mulholland (Manhasset).

? Graduate student and Ann Arbor-native Peter Thompson is the lone Wolverine to boast NCAA Tournament experience. Prior to U-M, he played at Georgetown for four seasons, earning trips to the Big Dance during the 2019, 2021, and 2022 seasons.

? Michigan is seeking its second win over an Ivy League school this season after previously defeating Harvard on March 11 by a 19-13 score. The Wolverines last took on the Big Red on March 1, 2014, falling 15-14 inside Oosterbaan Fieldhouse.

? A victory over Cornell would move U-M to the second round of the NCAA Tournament versus either top-ranked Duke or the winner of the Marist vs. Delaware play-in game on Saturday (May 20) in Albany, N.Y.

? The Wolverines are coming off a 14-5 win over No. 7 Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament championship game on Saturday (May 6) at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Md. The victory locked in U-M's first NCAA Tournament berth via automatic qualifier. U-M is one of four schools representing the Big Ten in the NCAA Tournament, along with Penn State, Johns Hopkins, and Maryland.

? Junior Michael Boehm leads the team in points (67) and goals (42) and ranks No. 24 nationally in points-per-game at 4.47. Sophomore Ryan Cohen leads in assists (29) and is No. 41 nationally with 3.73 ppg., followed by senior Josh Zawada, who is second on the team in goals (32) is in 36th with 4.00 points/contest.

? Boehm is on the cusp of becoming the second player in program history to reach 100 goals in a career. He enters the matchup against the Big Red with 96 in his career, trailing only Zawada (115).

? U-M ranks third in the NCAA in shooting percentage at (.342), trailing oly Virginia (.375) and Notre Dame (.349). Individually, Boehm is sixth in the country (.488), while senior Jacob Jackson is 38th nationally (.404). Jackson's mark is sixth among all NCAA midfielders.

? Freshman goalie Hunter Taylor entered in the second half of U-M's 17-15 semifinal win over No. 4 Penn State (May 4), making eight saves against five goals allowed. He followed by earning the start against the Terps, making 14 stops against five goals allowed and proved vital in U-M's first Big Ten Tournament championship.

? The Wolverines boast the top faceoff duo in the nation, as the pairing of junior Justin Wietfeldt ranks No. 1 in the country with a winning percentage of .660 (130-of-197) along with 79 ground balls, while graduate student Nick Rowlett is winning 57.7 percent (136-of-237) with 90 ground-ball pickups to rank No. 18 nationally. Rowlett also became the first Wolverine to collect 300 ground balls in a career with a pair of pickups in U-M's most recent win over Maryland (May 6).

Michigan takes down Cornell 15-14. Was not able to watch the game. I'll catch the replay on BTN. On to Duke, unless Delaware pulls the upset.
