Anyone know anything about the place? ive been hired by the state to work in the prison up there.
I dont know much other than its close to ludington, and I used to do a little trout fishen up there.

I start the corrections academy in lansing here in a couple weeks.

big change from working as a nurse aid in the hospital.

it has a peaceful sounding name.

I knew a guy from Ludington in college. he was like 1/8 native american or something, so he had almost a full ride to Michigan, but still couldn't manage to graduate or even stay enrolled for a semester at a time. he spent all his time playing video games and beer-pong.

I don't think he even knew that things like "class," "studies," or "exams" existed.

sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

one other tip I've heard from people that live in rural Michigan... buy one of those freezer chests. at the start of the fall, shoot a big deer. take it to a butcher and have it made into ground venison, venison steak, etc. freeze the meat in your freezer chest and you can practically feed yourself through the whole winter on it.

I just looked up some stuff about Manistee, and although I didn't learn anything you probably don't already know, it seems like a pretty cool place, if a person prefers small town living in rural Northern Michigan.

There's a film production company, 10 West Studios, that has made some full length feature films with name actors.

They also seem to have some arts organizations; and I'm sure you know it's right on Lake Michigan and has a river or two going through it, so a person would have all those water sports activities right at their doorstep.

Oh, and there's a casino close by too, if a person is into that.

Seems like a pretty cool little place, you'll probably like it.

You can get drunk and lose money at the casino.

You've got that going for you. Which is nice.

From a Nurse aid to working in the Prison. Big career move, I hope it works out. I knew someone who went to the Art school up there..that's all I know about Manistee.

seems purty nice up there, ill be able to get my trout fishen in couple real good fishen river with in minutes of the town.

its going be alot different then living near flint, but for the best.

I've been there for HS sports back in the day. Definitely not much too near Manistee, but it is on the water and had a little downtown, similar to TC where I was living.
