A die hard nd fan said that its bad for Michigan because if a rival lost the week before, they tend to win the rivalry game. Any truth to this? I'm at work and wouldn't be able to research this

1. What's nd record against Mich after losing prev week?
2. How about just for games at Mich. Stadium?

In modern times, Notre Dame is 1-3 against Michigan when coming off a loss the previous week.

That sounds like something somebody would just assert because it sounds like it is probably right in the context of "rivalries" and someone who wants noter dame to win, after losing to USF.

I went back to 1985 and there is no discernable pattern whatsoever to support the claim that a team losing the week prior is more likely to win the 'rivalry game' the next week. In many years earlier on, ND was UM's first game of the year and in many years, the second for ND --effectively getting a 'warm up' besides illustrating about a 50/50 pattern in terms of your buddy's claim.

Since the rivalry re-newed after the contract had expired, MICHIGAN is 5-4 (2002-2010)

2002: A 2-0 Willingham WINS over a 2-0 Michigan ... N/C both teams had won
2003: A 1-0 Willingham LOSES to a 2-0 Michigan ... N/C both teams had won
2004: A 0-1 Willingham WINS over a 1-0 Michigan ... the first example in support of the myth
2005: A 1-0 Weis waddles in a WINS over a 1-0 Michigan ... N/C both teams had won
2006: A 2-0 Weis LOSES to a 2-0 Michigan ... N/C both teams had won
2007: An 0-2 Weis LOSES to an 0-2 Michigan ... N/C both teams had lost, Hart guarantees win
2008: A 2-0 Weis beats a 1-1 Michigan that had won previous week ... N/C neither supports or refutes
2009: A 1-0 Weis loses to a 1-0 Michigan ... N/C both teams had won
2010: A 1-0 Kelly team LOSES to a 1-0 Michigan team ... N/C both teams had won
