Pats meeting with Fairley

Saints signed DT Nick Fairley, formerly of the Rams, to a one-year contract.
After the Patriots dropped out of the running, New Orleans was Fairley's only destination. Fairley found a surprisingly cold market despite playing well in a rotational role with the Rams last season. The one-year deal will give him another chance to rehab his value before heading out to free agency again next offseason. The 2011 first-rounder just turned 28 in January. The Saints will likely have to make a roster move to fit Fairley under the cap.

Is it still a "low key move with potentially high upside as usual"??

Or is that just for guys that sign with the Pats?

No, I still liked a deal for Fairley regardless. A one year, 3 million dollar deal for a solid DT who's 28 years old. It's not a lot of risk and Fairley has the tools to be a really good DT if he can put it all together. I would've taken him back for the Lions at that rate.
