We interrupt the regularly scheduled blog for??
BASEBALL! IT?S BACK, BABY!

In honor of this momentous day, we?re opening up this blog hours earlier than usual for reader comments.

One catch. You have to answer this question.

What are your thoughts about the return of baseball?

You?ve got 3 sentences max to get on the record. And we keep it short because we want readers to talk TO other readers, not to talk AT them.

Once you enter your comment, take a moment to respond to someone else if you like. That?s how we build community. It?s also how we get some great baseball discussions going.

Ready? Of course you are??

Bless You Boys Tigers Blog Podcast 107: MLB is back from the brink. 59 minutes.
The BYB staff discusses baseball from a Tigers? perspective.

Well it certainly looked bleak the past few weeks, but we got there in the end. Major League Baseball and the MLBPA union have a new collective bargaining agreement, and baseball is back on the menu. Ashley MacLennan joins Brandon Day for a quick reaction pod to the day?s events. We?ll look back at the contentious negotiations, the tactics and mistakes that led us to the brink of losing part of the season, and the deal that finally emerged as we and our baseball writing brethren and the fans followed along in real time on social media.

We?ll conclude with a look at where the Tigers stand as free agency re-opens, the fact that we don?t have to yell at them to sign a strong defensive minded catcher for once, and consider what work remains to put a real contender on the field in April. Thanks for hanging in there, and thanks for joining us for a little chat after a day that left us both elated and drained.

SATURDAY SURVEY.

Finally, something good happened in this world recently. Baseball is back!
It was a contentious work stoppage. The first in 26 years. And it threatened to shorten yet another season due to something other than Covid.

Players were locked out at the stroke of midnight after the CBA expired after December 1st. Locked out despite no negotiations having taken place. A first proposal was submitted in January by the MLBPA but it took MLB 6 weeks to respond to it.

As many expected, negotiations took on the aura of a final exam cramming session that veered into all-nighter status. And it literally came down to the wire. But it got done.

Now that the dust is settling, how do you, the fans, feel about baseball now?

Now that baseball has returned, how do you currently feel about the game?

1. All is forgiven. Play ball!

2, Happy but I need to get over some anger issues first.

3. Not feeling the love just yet.

4. Disappointed. Interest waning in the game.

5. Mad. Baseball has lost a fan.

A.J. Hinch this morning said the toughest part of returning post-lockout is getting a sense for where players are at physically after not having been in communication.
Said we'll likely see established players in spring training games earlier bc of the condensed spring.
