Same surgery Boyd had last September and he still isn't back. THIS is why I wanted to trade him when his value was peak

Skubal had the same surgery as M. Boyd. From a medical website "Flexor tendon surgery is one of the most difficult injuries to recover from. It takes 12-14 weeks for tendons to regain most of their strength. Do not return to full activity or heavy lifting for 3 months after surgery."

The Detroit Tigers continue to make national headlines but for all the wrong reasons. Today, a couple articles and MLB Radio posting stories about the vast amount of injuries and surgeries - mostly to pitchers.

It started with Spencer Turnbull, Joey Wentz and then Casey Mize. Followed by Alex Faedo and Kyle Funkhouser. Now Tarik Skubal. 6 pitchers all with surgeries within the past year.

There is concern over Beau Brieske and Matt Manning who also have current arm issues as well. For putting all its rebuilding chips on young pitchers, this threat has the potential to nullify an entire rebuild. Needless to say, this is a top priority for the new GM to resolve.

Tarik Skubal allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings with a walk and 4 K's in his rehab start for Mud Hens this afternoon. Both runs scored on an Andrew Stevenson HR on Skubal's final pitch. He threw 32 of 52 pitches for strikes, including 19 fastballs averaging 95.9 mph.

The Detroit Tigers have been trying to assemble a starting rotation as part of their rebuild. There are many new faces.

There have also been lots of injuries which have delayed plans and player development.

Detroit is expected to lose Eduardo Rodriguez to an opt-out clause. Matthew Boyd just had Tommy John surgery and his contract expires in 3 months. Michael Lorenzen is on a 1-year contract as well.

Spencer Turnbull has been on the 60-day IL and has 1 more year left until he becomes a free agent. His agent is Scott Boras and it appears very clear that Turnbull will not be with the team beyond next year at the latest.

Here is the current list of potential starting pitchers who all have experience pitching in Detroit.

1.Beau Brieske

2. Alex Faedo

3. Matt Manning

4. Casey Mize

5. Reese Olson

6. Tarik Skubal

7. Joey Wentz

Which of these pitchers do you believe has the best chance of being successful and sticking in the starting rotation for at least the next 2 seasons (through 2025 or longer)?

Which pitcher has the best chance of sticking in the starting rotation for at least the next 2 years?

1. Beau Brieske

2. Alex Faedo

3. Matt Manning

4. Casey Mize

5. Reese Olson

6. Tarik Skubal

7. Joey Wentz
