Tashaun Prince, Austin Daye traded

This team really needs a true PG. This is a really good trade in terms of a salary dump, and bringing in a guy who can really run the offense. Bynum is an SG in a PGs body, seeming to try to do EVERYTHING when he doesn't need to. Knight is showing he is probably a better 2 than a 1.

Also, the Pistons have plenty of tweeners. Tayshaun was good for us, but it was time for him to go. I would have to think the bigs (Monroe, Drummond) are going to love playing with Calderon.

I don't give a shit about the Grizzlies or their fans. The only thing that concerns me is if this makes the Pistons a better team now and in the Future. I think they are no worse off now and it puts them in a position where they have an opportunity to get better in the future. I think in order for them to get good quick they are going to have to flip a few of these expiring contracts for an established player. I wouldn't bank on Joe D getting it right in the FA market.

I'm not a Pistons fan.

Jose Calderon's arrival delayed. As a Spanish citizen, he had a Canadian work visa, now needs a US work visa.

Pistons trade: Jose Calderon discusses his role, staying beyond this season.

Calderon's contract expires at the end of the season. He's making $10.5 million and change this season, but will likely settle for less as a free agent given his age (he'll be 32 by the time next season starts). Also worth pointing out: the Pistons now own Calderon's Bird rights, meaning they can go over the cap to keep him if necessary.

The Pistons better not need to use his Bird Rights to keep a 32 year old PG.

Lol think that would be impossible since the Pistons look to be well under the cap by 30 million and more.

Calderon is an ideal fit for the team. He's a great outside shooter, which opens the floor for our best players (Monroe-Drummond). He is a great passer, which gets the ball to our players in better position, rather than just letting our broken offensive sets break down. He's not a good defender, but he doesn't have much to live up to compared to Knight and Bynum.

More importantly, he gives us a look at what we could be, whether he is re-signed or not. Regardless of what plays out, at least we will know what our players really are. Without a quality PG, we've seen what this team is - talented but poorly run. With a quality PG, nobody gets to use excuses as to why they can't hit shots, get in position, or do whatever job they have.
