Tigers @ Guardians Game #36 May 10 2023

Greene strands two in the seventh ( a single and hbp with two outs). Worked a 0-2 count to 3-2 but grounded out to second.
I really wanted him to drive in a run off that asshole pitcher.

Still 5-0 heading to bottom of the 7th.

4-3 nice scoop and shovel pass by Short.

With today's start, Eduardo Rodriguez has gone at least 5.0 IP and allowed
1-run-or-less in 6 straight starts, tied w/ Michael Fulmer (5/21-6/17/16) and
Al Benton (4/19-5/20/45) for the 2nd-longest streak in franchise history.
Justin Verlander had 7 straight starts from 6/9-7/10/11.

Tigers 5 - Guardians 0: Rodriguez strikes again.
Yet another fantastic outing from Eduardo Rodriguez stifled Cleveland?s hitters as the Tigers made some early runs stand up.

It's still very early in the season and the Detroit Tigers will still have those roller coaster moments but given what we're currently seeing, could this team remain stable enough to make the AL Central exciting?

The White Sox have been falling apart w/some serious issues, incl. Carlos Correa. The Twins are having big issues, too. The other contenders, the Guardians, are also running into trouble. There are currently no favorites in the division.

Detroit went from being the 2nd worst team in MLB to middle of the pack with an extended winning streak and winning 7 of their last 8 series. Just 2 games under .500 now. Could the Tigers make this interesting?

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

Last Friday, we asked readers to name their top 5 positional player picks as building blocks for this team going forward. To qualify, each of them had to have spent some time on the 26-man roster. Those currently on the IL also qualify.

So who made the list? Here are the top 5 in order according to the votes cast:

THE TOP

RILEY GREENE

MATT VIERLING

KERRY CARPENTER

JAKE ROGERS

ZACH McKINSTRY

It was almost a dead heat between Greene and Vierling. They received the most votes by far. Note that 4 of the 5 weren?t on last year?s roster (Carpenter?s September call-up doesn?t count).

RUNNERS UP

SPENCER TORKELSON

JAVIER BAEZ

ERIC HAASE

There was a big gap between the first group and this one. All three here were very close in voting.

NEEDING TO STEP IT UP

ZACK SHORT

NICK MATON

AKIL BADDOO

ANDY IBANEZ

Three or fewer votes for each of these players.

For the record, 6 of us picked the identical group that got the most votes. Joining me is McWatt, KJO, David Varwig, Chief and dslwat. Congrats!
Your honorary GM credentials are in the mail?.

What do you all think of these results? Has the Tigers? current play changed your minds at all?
