Tigers Beat.
Jason Beck

The Tigers are winning games with these three players in the middle of the batting order: Javier B?ez, Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson.
"They have to decide who they want to pitch to," B?ez said, "and if everybody's hot, they're in trouble."

Has Spencer Torkelson met your expectations this season?

7-0 on vierling bomb.

3 hrs for the tigers today. this has to be the most they have hit in 1 game this season.

Frustrating 2 out walk by Foley. Hinch going to get Foley with 2 outs .

Asking Lange for a 4 out save.

I just don?t get walks. Throw a strike

Tigers 8 - Nationals 6: A no-no to oh no.
That was too close for comfort, but the duo of Foley and Lange shut the door on a Nats comeback attempt.

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

While they are slowly improving, the Detroit Tigers still have a significant issue with their offense. Several players, along with Miguel Cabrera, are currently struggling mightily at the plate.

Meanwhile, Justyn-Henry Malloy is doing great things down in Toledo. He is hitting over .300 and has one of the team?s best slash lines. He leads the club in HRs and RBIs. But he also is #1 in strikeouts.

The team has said that he still struggles against certain types of pitches. But the greatest concern is his defensive skills. He is improving, however he currently is still considered to be weak with a glove.

Obviously, success in AAA does not guarantee success in the majors. There is a big jump from the minors to the majors. And with Malloy, he?s only played in 41 games and had 144 at-bats (through Thursday?s games).

Many don?t consider this to be enough experience. Even Spencer Torkelson had over 200 at-bats before he was promoted to Detroit and it was a big part of the reason why he struggled so much last year. The Tigers don?t want Malloy potentially struggling in Detroit and setting his development back.

If the Tigers do bring him up, where would they put him? As a rookie, he would not be playing every day. The DH position currently is being filled by Miguel Cabrera and Kerry Carpenter (who is about to return from the IL).

Given all of this, what should the Tigers do with Justyn-Henry?

What should the Tigers do with Justyn-Henry Malloy?

1. Bring him up now.

2. Bring him up mid-summer.

3. Bring him up late summer.

4. Wait until next year to bring him up.

VOTE

I voted wait until next year. If he is still struggling with some pitches and is below average on D...let him develop in AAA

This game was fun until its wasnt.

8-0 and no hits for the nats until the bottom of the 6th then vierling lost the first 'hit' in the lights, next thing you know its 8-6.

Riley Greene's homer last night was a moonshot, for sure. Nugget in the media notes: The ball was hit at a height of 162 feet, the third-highest homer in the Majors this season. His launch angle on that was 40 degrees, exit velo of 110.7 mph and it flew 393 feet. Incredible
