August 20: 2B Jonathan Schoop exits game with right ankle sprain
Schoop appeared to turn his ankle while trying to dance around catcher Max Stassi?s tag as he tried to score from second base on Tucker Barnhart?s second-inning single. Schoop reached out for the ankle after tumbling to the ground and limped back to the dugout, where head athletic trainer Doug Teter accompanied him to the clubhouse. Kody Clemens replaced Schoop at second base for the third inning. The Tigers announced after the game that Schoop is day to day.

Schoop has played in 115 of Detroit?s 122 games this season, eight more than shortstop Javier B?ez for tops on the team. His second-to-home time of 8.04 seconds was slightly faster than his season average, according to Statcast, but right fielder Taylor Ward?s throw beat him with enough time that Stassi was waiting for him at home with the ball.
