Greene and Baez roughed up JV some.

I'm not saying this team is GOOD, but I'm starting to think the schedule has made them look a lot worse than they are.

Their record is shaking out better than expected, and they still haven't gotten to plan any really bad teams yet

Streaky.

The Tigers are 2-14 vs the AL East and 11-3 against the rest of baseball.
And
No more AL East teams until July 7th.
Detroit has already won series against the Mets, Guardians, Astros, Brewers and Giants this season.
3 of those teams made the playoffs last year and 1 the WS.

Eduardo Rodriguez's last four starts (including today): 26 2/3 innings, one run, 11 hits, three walks, 27 strikeouts.

Congratulations to Eduardo Rodriguez on his 1,000th career strikeout!

Tigers 2, - Mets 0: Eduardo Rodriguez is flat out dealing.
Justin Verlander?s first start of the year started badly with Riley Greene and Javy B?ez taking him deep, though the ace settled in from there.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

The Tigers have played just over a month of baseball so it?s time to turn our attention to what we?re now seeing.

As I?ve written over the past couple weeks, this team?s performance is going to resemble that of a roller coaster. Some great games followed by disappointing performances. Slow starts by some players who then start to blossom. And impressive starts that ended up being less so.

And I don?t expect it to change.

I can tell you that a number of players have grown on me so far. And yes, some players I?ve become disappointed in. All of this could change once again.

But in the meantime, here?s a challenge for all of us. It involves positional players only as we haven?t seen a bigger sampling of pitchers quite yet.

If you could pick only 5 positional players to hang onto going forward as the building blocks of this team, who would you pick? They must have spent at least some time on the 26-man roster. And yes, you can include those on the IL.

We?ll compile results and report back. But please, for tabulation purposes, submit your list in alphabetical order.

Without further adieu, here is mine:

Tigers just swept a club who won 101 games last year. The Tigers beat Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. These facts should grab ya by the (base)balls!
