This recent Alek Manoah news is VERY disappointing.
You can fully understand disagreeing and being upset about getting sent down to the Minors!
But to REFUSE to report shows a great lack of leadership and immense immaturity.
The Toronto Blue Jays deserve better.
Wonder if Manoa has been sharing notes with Detroit Tigers' Spencer Turnbull. The Tigers' pitcher was also very unhappy with being sent down to AAA for his performance and has yet to pitch a game there. Is this becoming the new trend in baseball?
Both players have been taking up roster spots that their teams could have used for other players. Sounds like Manoa is taking a page out of Turnbull's book about how to manipulate the service time clock and reach free agency asap. You don't earn service time in the minors.
The Jays put Manoa on the inactive list. Expect that the Tigers will do the same. Both are burning their bridges with their respective teams - and with any other organizations who don't want "me first" players.

Manoa is still 4 full years away from free agency. He is also only 25 years old and Toronto still has 4 years of control. I don't think the Manoa situation has anything to do with service time. He might actually be injured or something physically is preventing him from pitching like he did last year.

Tigers get a werid double play 4-3-3-4 Votto looked safe. Unless he was out of the base line.
